Not quite you two........took her for a test ride and came home on the back of an AA truck......some clanking and bonging going on in the engine dpt, really dont know what's happened, initially sounded like the cct needed a click on, took a long screwdriver at Dave's and sounded like it, his bike also sounded similar as it's about to click a tooth on the cct, ride home got a bit noisy then..
Insurance and mot due in 2 weeks so the bike will be off the road now while i decide what i'm going to do with it, need to ponder a bit,.. appreciate all the help along the way though, feel like hanging me boots up now but give it awhile and see.

Only around 10 miles maybe going the long way round to Daves, then another mile or two before Big Ben noises started, then stuck in the heat for 21/2 hours waiting for the nice AA man, was very thankful for the couple in a house opposite where i was waiting who kept me supplied with pints of water and offered coffee and a buttie nice to see the best come out of people when the shit hits the fan..
AA rang me and said it was possible i would be collected by a motorbike with a trailer and a taxi home paid for by the AA, low loader showed up in the end..
Edit... can only assume i've fooked summit up along the way as it was initially running lovely.. oh well, i'm still glad i attempted it at least....

Probably engine out Chris, i'm not opposed to doing the actual job but space and being outside really hamper me this time, dont see how it's possible really, last time all the engine cases were professionally cleaned so building in the spare room was fine...
The mk1 is me perfect bike and love riding it but i may have to take the financial hit and break it yet... told the misses that i should consider the cost like an expensive holiday, and she replied "well obviously it's one you did'nt take me on "

Noise was initially top end Ken and seemed like it was the cct, but then a big clonk clonk going home so i'm assuming the worse and i have a horrible feeling it was me own fault since i've had time to think on it, dont think i put enough oil back in after doing the timing and having the oil pumps out, got distracted i think by the misses running out and screaming we were infested with ants in the utility room and then i put the bike away and forgot, oil level was okay and turned the engine over by hand a good few times to make sure the timing stayed set, idling was fine and had oil dripping from the gallery bolt on tickover, oil level obviously dropped but topped up before going out and prolly to late, damage done.....all that fooking work scuppered cos i've become a bit forgetful....
Wont know for sure but looks like i buggered up.....
