All I ask for our rideout is that we "learn" from othersŽexperiences regarding these bigger rideouts.

For my part, I will be watching out for my partner, as this will not only be her first rideout on her own bike (well, one of mine), but also given she had only passed her test last July, and then 3 weeks later I chucked her off the Strom, (breaking her arm in the process), this will be her first experience of riding in a group (hell, its only her third time on a bike since her test/accident), on the wrong side of the road (for her), on a strange bike, and with you lot all jabbering in a language that isnŽt her first.

Could be an interesting day out!!!

So, if theres gonna be a "fast" group, a "slow" group, or a "new to this riding thing" group, then weŽll be behind that last one. All IŽm asking, guys n gals, that we donŽt assume that we are all at the same riding experience levels.

We are definitly looking forward to this get together, and meeting some of you.

That's a valid point, mike.

I think we'll be able to let people decide on the day which group they might be best suited to. I for one will be in the plod along and enjoy the scenery group.

Whilst I'm not afraid to use the throttle, it becomes a different matter when you have a group of mixed experience riders. I sincerely hope that nobody is tempted to ride beyond their limits just to keep up with the guy (or gal) in front. With the expected turnout we have the makings of a good meet and possibly the start of something regular if it goes well.

If a number of people want to run in a faster group, that's fine by me (not that you need my permission), but please remember this is a social event.

If anybody wants a contact number drop me a pm and I'll let you know. Although it's still a little way away, the meet is looming up quite fast, so just to recap on the plan as I understand it....

We are aiming to meet at the Lorry park in Bury for 10:30, have a chinwag, bacon butty and coffee. Leave around 11:00 following the route JG kindly sorted for us and finishing at Red Lodge for another chinwag, bacon butty and more coffee!

For the guys in the Lowestoft area, if you want to meet up to ride over to Bury, I'm already meeting a couple of friends at the Mac Donalds roundabout at Beccles, aiming to leave there at 9:15(ish), so let me know and I'll make sure we wait for you.

I am with Mike and Trevini, I shall be riding with Mrs Landy (Kate) who is a relatively inexperienced rider and completely new to this group thing. I am willing to act as tail-end charlie as I know the route well and should have bike to bike coms fitted by then. I will pop in the cafe in Bury sometime next week just to warn them we are coming.
TS50ER, Suzuki GT125, Cagiva 125, Suzuki GT250 20 year gap. Honda CBF600. Discovered the joy of TDM, 1974 GT250 has joined the stable
Vario touring screen, Stainless Steel Rad Guard, Fender Extender (it came off), Givi V46 Topbox (inc brake light), SW-Motech Engine Bars, Wingrack, LED Tail Light
Still in the shed:- BMW Hand Guards, Heated Grips, Aux Lamps.

I'm sure most people will be fairly sensible about this and treat it for what it is, which is basically a social event for like minded riders. I know a few may be riding sports bikes but we probably won't have too many of the pre puberty gixer owners amongst us ohmy.gif

If Landy wants to do the more sedate group. I better do the faster one since I am a pre pubessent Gixer onwer as well rolleyes.gif

I thought that we all should just meet in Bury those from Yarmouth Etc want to meet else where and ride to Bury thats fine. But should say def leave Bury at 11.00am.

Did also think again(This is getting dangerous blink.gif ) Should we all re-meet at the edge of each town and ride through as a HUGE group?? They are only about 10-12 miles apart. Though it would look good too rolleyes.gif and may calm things down too for a bit??

Wot about having mine and Landy's moby No's just in case people get lost/late at bury, breakdowns etc??

Wot about overtaking??? I think we should be allowed but how do we moderate it?? Cos wot may be ok for some may be scary for others excl.gif But if you get stuck behind a slow joe it will be frustating huh.gif

Overtaking should be no problem if just done responsibly? i.e. respect the other bods and don't be a numpty. Likewise, it should be up to common sense to space out safely.

No wonder the organisers were pissed off.

And as for the neanderthals that that justified their death wish overtaking antics on double whites by saying "that's what sportbikes are for" - what W*nkers - their only saving grace will be that natural selection will probably get them before the Government bans us ALL from bikes

i'm riding with a new rider and a pillion and poss a mate on a 125, so will be taking it easy

Black 1991 850 MK1, 160k+ miles(ish, best guess really, gave up trying to keep count after 3rd set of clocks and 3rd engine), PilotRoad2 tyres, custom stubby exhaust system, bluespot calipers & goodridge braided hoses with dunlopads, maxton forks, Ohlins shock, kedo handguards, stainless TDM grill, Scottoiler with lubetube & dual nozzle thingy, Givi Wingrack2 with E45 & 2xE36s, renntec crash bars, Autocom with blueteeth & PMR radio, TomTom Rider2, Optimate IIIsp, Bagster tank cover, anti-dazzle coating
to fit : led spotlights, heated grips, new braided lines and rear caliper that actually has bleed nipples

4 on a 125 not bad but when I was younger I did get 15 in my RS250 at Donny in 1988 around the camp site rolleyes.gif

Firstly and most importantly, 10 out of 10 to all of those putting the time and effort into organising this - fine work, thanks good.gif

So, without meaning to preach, state the bleeding obvious or offend anyone, let's get through the day "incident" free and not let them or this glorious TDM clan down - and for the sake of absolute clarity, I firmly include myself in that aim as well! We're all human after all (I'll be trying to either join in or meet up somewhere depending on other commitments).

In relation to the few East Of England idiots, I'd either be after blood or passing on-bike footage onto the law to let them deal with it: it's what blatant stupidity like that deserves, bike or no bike.

Sadly, having seen the inevitable results of such behaviour before in a previous role, it's these concerns that normally put me off these big meets: no matter how many sensible people there are involved, there's normally one you need to watch out for - and quite often it's someone who's nothing to do with the ride-out at all, but who has just seen a group of others being sensible and decides to demonstrate how big his balls (and small his brains) are by recklessly blasting past them all. When I have been before, my rule of thumb is to remember that I'm going to stop at some point soon with those that are around me, and I don't like pain.

Thankfully, TDM'ers are generally a sensible bunch (relatively speaking of course) tongue.gif so fingers crossed for some sunshine, a grand ride-out, some top-class photo opportunities and a chance to reverse the good old general public's perception of "bikers"!

(PS If anyone's taken any offence at any of the above, none was meant!)

Landy,What bike to bike are you using?IŽve just bought radios to marry up to the Autocom stuff I have installed on 3 of my 4 bikes. If they are compatible with your system, then weŽd have 3 way cover for any stragglers, or other problems.

Any chance of setting a default channel of 1 - 1 for bike to bike comms people? Mine's a bike powered Starcom unit so resets itself to that channel each time I turn the bike off. If not I'll stick some batteries in the radio for the day.

I'll be in the slow group with new riders and 125's so could form part of any sweeper requirement

I have Starcom but its still in the boxes at present, I am sure we con come to a compromise as to which channels to use.
