Received the correct bolt (M12) for the lower shock mount to replace the M10 that was rattling around there (!!!!!!!)

Fitted the shock, plus the re-painted swingarm, back wheel (now black + polished rim to match the front) which finally got rid of the 'orrible white back wheel that previous owner decided was a good idea.

Tightened the new engine sprocket (cheers Studley!), (again to replace a worn and wobbly sprocket that was there when I bought the bike).

Adusted the chain, torqued everything I could (with my new talking wrench.....strange though, it never said a word).

Re-fitted the gearchange and covers. Then stood back and smiled!

Ready to hit the road.........oh yes, got to fork out for insurance and road tax, so might have to wait till April for that (too tight to pay for March when it's nearly over!) So it'll be up and down the private road round here to see what falls off till then.

Will try to get some pics on here tomorrow.

Took the bike for a quick spin up the private road here......All well apart from the neutral light, which comes on when you pull the clutch in!
I read posts from previous owner, and suggestions for a fix, so add that to the list!

Saturday afternoon I went to the bike shop to get my front wheel back with a new tyre on.

Then the power went out while I waited my turn.

Then the boss quickly came, yelling everybody to get out.

Then the fire brigade came with lights and horn.

Then...I miss my front wheel with a new tyre.

Well, today the TDM has had its first service in years (not my fault, new owner!) and has been given half of a spring clean. I'm all out of enthusiasm now so kicking back on a sunny Sunday afternoon.. to do sweet FA!

As you can see from the plugs...well over due!

The oil was like grit. She's a happy lass now though.

Fitted shiny new brake discs and pads front and back all 12 bolts from front came out using my 18V impact driver. No such luck with the rear, heat impact and finally 3 came out but the other 3 😡snapped had to drill them out and re tap 2 ok but last one will have to have a helie coil fitted once that's done.
Just got to clean the front Calipers then I'm ready for the summer.
No more advisories on brakes at MOT 😀

Did 2 different things to my '92 TDM850 today; first of all, I installed the Micron exhaust system-

413250844.jpg

The exhaust system reduced the popping and farting considerably, now I get only one stout pop on snapping the throttle shut or blipping on downshift. For what it's worth, I had absolutely ZERO issues removing the stock exhaust; no frozen nuts, no stripped threads, etc.

Second thing I did was swap seats. The Corbin seat is already off the bike, it's TOO HARD, plus it has a visible cosmetic crack/tear in the main saddle.

The previous owner also gave me 2 more windscreens; one slightly taller, smoke, with "ears" just above the fairing, and an other kinda goofy but very purposeful larger clamp-on unit (I was wondering what those nice alloy clamps on the bars were for). I didn't try either one on, as "spring" around here is in the upper 80s and 90s, and summer... well, forget it.

Which discs did you decide on???

Went for the EBC X series
did cost some from main dealer but would have had to re-mortgage to get them not had time to clean Calipers yet so not tested them

All sorted now been out for a test ride then a clean and polish 😀

Patched the cracked Micron CF muffler can with some JB Weld, let it cure, then took it out for a spin.

Not too shabby: 35, 70, 100, 115, 125.

Didn't attempt to find the rev limiter, and ran out of wide open space with safe deceleration space.

It ain't no ZRX, but with 350cc less to work with, I like it!

Finally got my front wheel from the shop (the latter happily did not burn).

The new front tire - Bridgestone Battlax T30 EVO. - looks great, had a 80km test on a twisty mountain road : good grip, quick warm-up, soft structure, etc. Found it very safe.

Me and my Bro-in-law took the TDM's to Sunderland Point near Heysham. probably the grottiest road in the North of England!! Good training for later on this year on my trip to Morocco, but hopefully it'll be drier sand!

Changed rear brake fluid - probably not necessary as it was just a bit more than twelve years old.

Sunday, I managed to oil my chain...

not a massive job, but before that, I had to decide between a main stand from rafel, or an abba stand from the small ads.

So last week, I spotted this abba stand, went to pick it up,ordered a fitting kit, and here we are.

Those caps that need to be removed, in order to fit the abba stand were a bar-steward to come out..

SO

I oiled my chain...
