Had news that my 900 ECU finally arrived in Greece and will be reflashed tomorrow. Unfortunately if it doesn't come back within a week I won't be able to test it for a while due to working away from home, in Norfolk, so I need to prepare my webbed fingers too ;)

Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.

I may have spoke too soon, Samios is shipping the ECU back today :)

Total costs are £262 for the remap + return postage (tracked and signed), and £60 for the spare ECU.

Samios says that not all ECU's can be flashed, some later ones have a one time programmable  memory which cannot be rewritten to. Anyone wishing to investigate the possibility should contact them first, with their unit serial number, or photo of the label, to clarify this detail.

The ECU I bought was the very earliest type with a part number ending -01   ...5PS-8591A-01  . With later versions the suffix goes up in number, later types with an immobiliser have a higher suffix. This may be relevant because although i could read the ECU data from the spare unit, i couldn't read it from my daily use ECU, which has a part number which ends with an '03' suffix., which may be another deciding factor about if it is possible to rework your existing ECU.

Put the newly shod wheels back in, removed old & fitted new chain & sprockets & new retaining/lock washer..

Rear sprocket was showing even wear & the front sprocket was just beginning to show a slight hook (27000 miles - Scott Oiler not fitted until 11000 miles).

Fitted my homermade phone/sat nav mount ready for ignoring on eurotour.

Removed and inspected the clutch - all within service limits. Cleaned and reassembled. No obvious cause of cold squeal.

Best kit I have used, better I think than the rubber sticks. I rode my tyre for 2'500 miles until the end of its life with this kit.

Well to be honest i know that kit is well rated above, but studley had a double puncture in Spain last year which was fixed with the string type of repair, lasted him 3000 miles..  i've used the string also in the past but, for ease of use and less mess that one is probably worth having, of course the thing is, if you have a repair kit you likely wont need it  :)

This one looks quite handy, and a lot cleaner when using it.  http://www.adventure...product_id=1186

Yeah, 2 string plugs, no problems whatsoever. :)  Sidey also got a puncture on the euro tour and he tried using his Stop & Go kit, for some reason the plug got stuck in the mechanism and wouldn't release into the tyre.

just bought that kit, looks simple though you need air in for it to work

Taxed the Mk 2, put a set of 900 mirrors on it & took it out for a blast this morning  :good: first ride on it this year

for a 21 year old bike, the old girl can still bounce off the rev limiter no problem, & had to tone it down a bit when I saw three figure speeds on the speedo  :badgerrock:

Am now going out to do the same on my GSA  ;)
