We are aiming to meet at the Lorry park in Bury for 10:30, have a chinwag, bacon butty and coffee. Leave around 11:00 following the route JG kindly sorted for us and finishing at Red Lodge for another chinwag, bacon butty and more coffee!

For the guys in the Lowestoft area, if you want to meet up to ride over to Bury, I'm already meeting a couple of friends at the Mac Donalds roundabout at Beccles, aiming to leave there at 9:15(ish), so let me know and I'll make sure we wait for you.

Have we a conflict of times here?
Either Landy and all will hang on for us or we set off a little earlier.

OK, when some one asked what time recently I could not remember exactly what we had agreed and after a quick trawl through the thread I did not see that post, my mistake. Aiming to start leaving about 11:00 it is then.

TS50ER, Suzuki GT125, Cagiva 125, Suzuki GT250 20 year gap. Honda CBF600. Discovered the joy of TDM, 1974 GT250 has joined the stable
Vario touring screen, Stainless Steel Rad Guard, Fender Extender (it came off), Givi V46 Topbox (inc brake light), SW-Motech Engine Bars, Wingrack, LED Tail Light
Still in the shed:- BMW Hand Guards, Heated Grips, Aux Lamps.

Metcheck agrees on cloudy, but says even colder with windchill: 3-6 degrees for the bulk of the day, and near freezing overnight, so keep an eye open if you're starting out early.

Bloody weather. Hope it's dry, don't mind the cold.
If it's pissing down then the Domi's coming out to play. Misses might come to if I can get her out of bed early enough.

BBC at lunchtime says snow likely in some areas, (didn't actually say where but I've no doubt it will be in Bury St. Edmunds) on Friday through to Sunday.

If that is the case, then I'll be staying at home and doing some catching up on nuptials.

I suggest we move the weekend to Tuesday and Wednesdays, cos they always seem to be good weather, stuff Sat and Sun, always bloody poor weather.

It ain't the bikes I'm concerned over.

As I've said before, its my partner I'm looking out for. She is a new rider, but has limited experience of UK traffic conditions. As some have indicated here, there will be a slower group, so she is happy to join in that group. Maybe I'm being over protective, and she'll put us all to shame, knee down on roundabouts in the wet on opposite lock, ohmy.gif , but ideally I'd like her to be able to enjoy this rideout in good dry conditions, enough that maybe she will want to join us again sometime.

Think of it in reverse, your partner/wife/GF has just passed her test and has ridden twice, both times in the UK, and then she is invited to a run out with total strangers, on unfamilair roads, on a bike she has only ridden once, in a foreign country ......... wouldn't you be a bit "cautious"?

Of course, she'll have to clean the bikes when she gets back anyway, before she cooks tea!

But in any event, we'll be having a practice ride on the Friday afternoon to get her dialled in, and if she don't feel 100% happy, then she'll come as a pillion.

(Still have to clean the bike though!)

Over protective me?

WOAH there it wasn't meant like that. sorry.gif isurrender.gif

I was actually refering to riding all that distance on your lurvley perpared bikes in the rain biggrin.gif
Cos I wouldn't ride me Gixer in the wet!

Hey, I wasn't having a go, relax!

far from it, if its raining I'm up for it personally, but given the choices between a cold wet bike to ride and a warm woman (that I haven't seen for 3 weeks wub.gif ) to curl up with, well ya knows what I mean! I hope.

Bikes can be cleaned, eventually!

This is bringing back memories of riding down the Acle straight in freezing fog and having to stop to breathe on my visor to melt the ice so I could see!

Lets hope it's not that bad on Sat!

Metcheck have been a bit crap just lately. You only have to look at the little weather icon animations on their forecasts, which are often wrong - rain picture when sunny and vice versa!

I'm sure it'll be fine on the day. Probably not actually fine, but fine, if you know what I mean. unsure.gif

1996 TDM850 in Yellow, Motad Nexxus, MK1 bashplate, Acerbis handguards, K&N, Xenons, Aux lamps, Bluespot calipers, Renthal 755 bars, DIY panniers, JBX-inspired gear indicator.  (Currently not on the road.)

Bikes wot I have had and dun't have any more: 1983 Honda CB125TDC, 1976 Kawasaki S1C (early KH250 stroker triple), 1986 Honda VF500F2, 1992 Kawasaki KLE500.
