Its a non working choke (seized cable). Is it in the wrong place since was fitted like that when i bought the bike?

Okay, it may also seize in original position

Yes. :) Proper location is to the upper right end of the engine-frame bracket on the left side of the bike.

By "proper" I assume you don't mean "well designed" ?  :P
It really doesn't matter that much, as choke is only for cold starts, but personally I don't fancy the location of the choke. Always envied those with a pretty little handle on left side of bar...

To be honest think it could be seized slightly open since MPG isn't great. Can it be removed?

Well you can remove it but really  you need to fix it, bike should start however briefly from cold with choke.

Yes, but the problem is more likely to be the choke mechanism at the carbs, rather than the cable itself. If it's stuck a tad bit "on", it will start too easily in cold weather and run rich after a short warmup.

Also, choke plungers are notorius for being eaten, causing rich fuel mixture.

MOT passed cleanly today at 102000 miles. Only 5000 miles on this bike in a year. I guess I need to ride it more :)

Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.

Following my mot pass, subsequent ride out and mass fuel evacuation earlier this week took the fairing, seat and tank off in 20 minutes (new record, think I'm going to fit some dry break fittings!!!).
Stripped float bowls yet again, closely inspected the float valves (new) and then the seats, which showed a slight scoring so swapped them from some from me spares box.....eureka!!!! Dry as a bone. So far. 😂😂 bloody old boikes....

I bought a couple of those dry brake fittings Neil and one of em literaly fell apart in me hands so i have left them off, would'nt a mk2 fuel tap fit the mk1 ! the bottom of the mk2 tank has an on/off tap on it, still have to remove the lines though if wanting the tank out of the way.

Yeah, I think you have to spend out on some good fittings mind, the top end ones are pretty bloody spendy. I bet that's why the 4tx has a tap on the tank....😂
If push comes to shove I can put a couple small ball valves in like on my sealey aux tank.
Although hopefully I won't have to remove the bloody thing again for a while ...

Today was a restday.

Yesterday was a trip in the Sauerland-region (Germany). Had a lovely ride.

But 1.150 km and 14 hours in the sadlle is enough, my butt can`t take anymore.

So it seems that i need to practice longer trips more. A round 1.500 km in one day is the next goal i`m aiming at.

stripped the rear wheel and get blasted for the phase 2 of fitting R5 tyres.

knackered the rear disk though all because of one nasty bolt that stripped :(
