Took the tank off, drained, cleaned and coated with POR-15. Hopefully that gets rid of my tank rust issues for good.

Put these decals on. Pleased how it came out, not perfect but pretty good for first attempt.

Does anyone have any little tricks or ideas on how I could seal these weather wise?Attached File  02C74184-133E-4F78-B215-4EEA67A515D1.jpeg   142.4KB   0 downloadsAttached File  02BC392B-2D0E-47F0-A7D6-0A7FC6F8D521.jpeg   107.4KB   0 downloadsAttached File  3CB65EE4-F9F8-48D0-9C35-EEB4F103AB83.jpeg   133.84KB   0 downloads

Scratched my a**e a bit over a tyre wear issue, i knew it was suspension related but couldn't remember what exactly

The symptom was a raised ridge, or burr, on the leading edge of each tread block, and after doing some googling found it was probably too much rebound damping. I checked the rebound adjuster and then i remembered that the last time I cleaned it I ran the adjuster to each end of the stop and then forgot to set it back because some other issue caught my eye.

Once I set it back to something more sensible and test rode it the rear has come more alive, it was feeling a bit wooden before.

Every day is a school day !

I took the panels off and had the lot lacered in, a permanent option but the only way I could see which would work....

In fact it’s your bike that inspired me to do this, cheers. I’ve got some more decals coming for the belly pan and front mudguard I’ll probably X2 clear coat them all at once should do the job.

fitted plug caps for CX500 they are a good fit with height enough for me to try and fabricate the washer seal thingy

https://www.ebay.co....872.m2749.l2649

fixed rear brake light corrosion on the connectors

i had a problem of only firing on one cylinder i had checked the bike over when all the bodywork was off on a remote fuel tank(lawnmower) all ok

starts it up to go for mot only i cylinder long story short replaced plugs and caps no differance

then i thought i had put to in line taps so that i could remove tank easier low and behold they were too small and not enough fuel getting through

temp job drilled them a bit bigger jobs agoodun

I think I need to do exactly the same thing. Didn’t know what caused uneven wear. Thanks fixitsan!

Started up the old cow - my god, what a job! A full box of start gas, emptied the battery once and even needed a 1 hour charge to get it running.
Once running, everything is good. What a cracking bike!
Suspecting the fuel pump to be shot again ($10 Chinese one), will eventually install electric one lying in the shed. Fuel levels will be adjusted, and I will try the oil pressure switch on.

Happy days

Think I've seen problems with float valves, flowing carbs if they're not good.

My carbs have stiffer springs (caused a need for serious adjustments on fuel levels), so I'm not worried. The leccy pamp is cheapo chinese one, though, so I'm planning to put spare unused vacuum one (also cheapo chinese origin) in tail compartment and try make everything reversible in case of an emergency.
