Not 100% on this but it's now a MOT fail.
Given the choice I'd stick with it as the headlight is pants with H7.

Passed it's MOT today, tester said he's seen much worse when looking at the pitts in the fork leg, I'll get it sorted anyway.

Good job on the pass.
Yeah HID in the TDM is a fail now as are DRLs that don't extinguish when the headlight is lit - if I read the MOT manual correctly. https://www.mot-test...anuals/class12/

Discarded Angel GTs, fitted & balanced a pair of Avon Storms while in the shed. Test ridden & all good.

Oil + filter to do tomorrow.

Cargo nets arrived today from the Far East (not Lowestoft), - so 4 x pannier modification also tomorrow.

Solenoid valve also arrived (replace Scottoiler - mentioned elsewhere) .I guess that's another job for tomorrow until beer o'clock arrives

600+ miles to give the old girl a run in, seems to be running nicely apart from a few gear change glitches, could possibly be gear pedal/clutch needs adjustment hopefully, we'll see, burning the max amount of oil ie 1litre per 1000 miles    missed the 9r for the motorway stretches short as they were but, give me a mk1 tractor around the twisties any day, even Studley kept up on a mk1  :D

Not easy following a mk1 on full chat at 40-45mph but I managed it.  A lot of them roads in North/mid Wales have less traffic than the Picos in Spain if you go mid-week, amazing.  700 miles and about 200ml of oil. :D

Removed pistons & rings from 9'er front calipers, got all but 1 out the easy way. Compressed air then is your friend  :P

Glad yam didn't put 6-piston calipers on . . . . 2x4 is more than enough....

What!??

“One of the key items not listed above is that aftermarket HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamps will fail. Of course, machines like the BMW K1200GT had them as standard, which is fine, but any standard halogen lamp that’s been converted to take HIDs won’t get a pass. There can be numerous issues with incorrectly fitted lamps, from the fact that the reflectors won’t focus the beam correctly, to serious electrical problems.”

More to do with the scatter of light above the image. My tdm and vw sharan have a perfect image but I must admit to noticing the extra light that isn't there on the H4/H7.
Lights are crap now.

I know that retrofitting them to cars re3quires the use of a lens cleaning/spraying mechanism. The problem is that as the lens becomes cloudy with dirt then the high brightness of the HID causes a lot of stray glare from the backlit dirt

had a horrible knocking noise from the front end last weekend, so had a sneaky peek suspecting it was the head races (I'd done the fork bushes last year) yep originals with no grease in.

At least I've spotted it in time for the NC500 in a few weeks

Yep, the TDM900 lamps are great at lighting up the front mudguard, but not much else. Best ones Ive experienced so far were on my AT and my R1100GS, but Ive never had a bike with HID or LED beams.
