I couldn't get mine to start when I went to reserve once last summer, was fine with some more fuel in though, I assumed it was a blocked fuel line, but I guess I could have a similar issue. REally should get round to fitting the R1 pump that's sat in my garage, but I tend to fill up before I hit reserve with gets around the problem.

The initial problem and repeat are typical of being too slow to switch to res.

You just need to be quicker on the draw...or fill up sooner.

Question. Do others have this game whener they go onto reserve ?. IS my pump cream crackered ? if so whats best find a standard that may work for a while or go for it and fit an early R6 leccy fuel pump with relays etc. Is the R6 the best bet or will others fit ? - mainly something cheaper. R1/R6 stuff keeps its price on Fleabay.

The answer to the question is YES, YES, YES and what a fooking pain in the arse it is, that's why I fitted the R1 eleccy pump and said goodbye to all that pissing around. At about £40 I feel it was well worth it. Try sourcing one from parts finder, the breakers contact you and you may well get one for less if the dealer is looking to get shut of stock. Pushing your bike along the hard shoulder for 3/4 mile is not a pleasant or safe thing to do every time you switch to reserve or forget to rather. rolleyes.gif

Ya godda catch it quick !

Only time I didn't get to the res in time was coming up the A1, pitch black, raining and loadsa lorries......what a rush ! laugh.gif

Took a good few minutes before I got her going off the starter. Lots of shaking the bike and full throttle, also helped lower the adrenalin levels smile.gif

Not a problem if your only tootling as you get a bit of a warning first, it's the high speed scenario's that are a challenge !

Left field idea on this. My old renault diesel had a bulb thing that you had to use to re-prime the diesel pump if you ran out. Could one of these be used maybe (dont laugh too much got a stinking hangover). - cheers !!
