Update, recieved a reply from Condor Ferries and they say 'there is no need to bring tie downs as all facilities are available on board'. After all your kind advice I think I may take some, under the seat, anyway. I could always use them to tie up any stray 'fairies'!!

I always park the bike in gear and steering lock on the side-stand (more stable than centre stand, esp. if your bike doesn't actually have a centre-stand laugh.gif ) and a strap over the seat. The straps on ferries are usually provided and hook on to the floor (just check when parking), and are wide enough to go straight on the seat without risk of damage.
If the bike then still manages to topple over then you probably won't be alive to worry about it anymore rolleyes.gif
That was not a banana, Dougal
