They sound fine with the baffles in. More throaty than the genuine but as I've only just fitted them I've not had a chance to do any miles yet. Not taken the baffles out yet so can't comment but there are comments by happy users on their web site and pictures of TDM owners with the new cans fitted. Incidentally if exported the price is £202 less the VAT but then plus carriage. The factory (a nice young lady called Louise,) rang me to thank me for the order, then rang back to give a date for delivery and when they arrived they had included a block of Kendal mint cake by way of tha thank you, can't fault their marketing. The pipes fitted easily with no issues. yahoo.gif

FUEL seems to be a quality product, judged by the photos and specs info.

Just one question: the can seems to be higher up than the stock cans;
Are they too high up making it impossible to use the original Yamaha side cases?
Like the ones on the picture below...:

No problems at all with the centre stand. They asked if I had a centrestand and I said I hadn't but might fit one in the future so they fitted an extra lug FOC to allow this. With regard to the upsweptedness of the cans. I've just had another look and from what I remember of the originals they pretty much follow the same path so should be OK. If you email them, they may be able to confirm this. Hope this helps.

I've done a short video of the new cans in place but haven't a clue how to post it to the site. blink.gif

Got the bike out from under it's snuggly cover last night and also dug out the original Yamaha cans and compared again. It would appear that the Fuel cans in fact are more raised than the originals although whether it would be enough to interfere with side cases is questionable. Suggest a call to Fuel Exhausts for confirmation.

If I get time over lunch break I will attempt to download the video, darn this new technology.

Almost forgot that I made a little clip myself from the Superpoles after having them installed:

So this is the set with CE approval and with the Db killers still in.

Easy for some. I've spent the last hour trying to upload the clip to Google Video. It seems to accept the upload but then fails to complete things. Will try Youtube tomorrow. sad.gif sad.gif

I am still interested in removing the stock cans and replace them with aftermarket slip-ons. But I'm a bit confused, to say the least, as to which make to choose.
FUEL, QUILL, STAINTUNE, LASER, BEOWULF, AKRAPOVIC etc., they all looks cool and seems to be of outstanding quality (at least according to the those who make and sell them...).

I'm waiting for an offer on LASER from a Norwegian importer. But then I checked LASERs website and from the pics of Laser fitted to a TDM the cans was raised up higher than the original cans. Which most likely means that it's impossible to fit the originial Yamaha panniers...
I am not going to use the panniers too often, but I will definitely fit them when I hit the road for longer trips. So I must have aftermarket exhaust that makes it possible to use the panniers.

So my question is: Which aftermarket cans would you recommend? I'm sure some of you have had the same problem...

Laser includes a little attachment with their slip ons to lower the mount so you can mount (original) sidebags. Superpole is a lot cheaper than laser, they should be able to send you a set identical to what I have (or different color, length, round or oval, with or without E approval etc) that will fit your bike. Let me know if you want help with that. You can fill in their email form at http://www.superpole.nl/contact/ or give them a call at:

No experience of Staintune cans, but they do seem to have a good reputation. I got a pair of their DB killers which are pretty solid. For anyone interested, their UK importer, Mike Bines, at Woody's Importarium in Abercynon (Mid Glamorgan), is one of the most helpful and fair-minded guys I've come across. He has some other interesting stuff too.
