I would be worried because of the "fuel-efficient multigrade engine oil meeting the latest API classifications." phrase. It could mean anything, but "fuel-efficient" could also mean something in the lines of "energy conserving", meaning the oil contains additives not suitable for usage in wet clutches. But it apparently works for you and that's all what counts.

Uncle Yamaha-san recommends to use motorcycle specific oils without low friction additives found in car oils because they can cause clutch slippage.
Any JASO MA oil will do. (insert the Dappers howl here)

Ah, OK - I wasn't aware of that JASO MA classification, manual only tells you about type and API grade.
Will certainly take this into account, cheers lads.

The manual also says:
"Do not put in any chemical additives or use
oils with a grade of CD aor higher.
Be sure not to use oils labeled “ENERGY
CONSERVING II” or higher. Engine oil also
lubricates the clutch and additives could
cause clutch slippage."
So with JASO MA you are on the safe side ;D

Alright, just to wrap up, I finally managed to get this oil/filter changed, and yeah good news is no more annoying squealing.
Well maybe there is a tiny, tiny bit of squealing on cold engine but almost unnoticeable so I'm happy with it.
Thanks to anyone involved in this thread.

In over 90,000ks nary a squeak from the clutch on my Niner. I use Silkolene comp 4 10w-40. Oil and filter changed every 6,000ks.

Normal for niners. Mine usually does it when cold and coming up due for an oil change - kind of a "change oil alarm" Been like it since day one in 2005.
