So now thinking of breakdown cover.

Anyone used vehicle rescue direct - £22 for a single trip appears quite good?

Dave

Dave my RAC cover came with my works life/accident insurance cover. It may well be worth checking your not covered already. If not £22.00 looks a good price for peace of mind.

Dave

I nearly bought European Breakdown extension from eBike (my insurers) but they wanted silly money!! I've opted for single trip cover from

http://www.breakdown...reakdown-Cover/  for virtually the same sum (£21.80). At a quick glance the offers seem very similar with both backed by Axa Assistance.......

Out of curiosity can I ask those that are touring to France next week...... "who uses Goop or Slime type products in their tyres as a puncture preventative step?"

Following the fettle day earlier this month and chatting with AliG I've bought some Goop but am still undecided whether to put it in or not......... :unsure2:. I also plan to carry a puncture repair kit.........

Any thoughts?

Never used any slime in my tyres, I think a repair kit is probably the best bet. With maybe a 12v compressor for finding the puncture. Saves using up the CO2 canisters. If I can remember where I put it, I'll be packing mine.

I tried out my mountain bike pump on the motorbike tyres, it pumped them up surprisingly easily. Manual, nothing to go wrong or flatten the battery, you just have to use a bit of muscle..

It's a Top peak mountain morph. High volume lower pressure. Has a foot plate so you can generate a good pressure. Fits in top box a treat. Still carry CO2 under seat in case I leave the top box off.

Not cheap are they Lee? Think I'll stick with the leccy pump, doesn't flatten the battery if the engines running.

So we should a considerable number of a variety of puncture kits and several compressors between us. Just hope nothing happens on the way to the meet up!

But then again I will have a puncture kit, co2 cannisters and a compressor with me!

Has anybody got any plans for the journey from the ferry to the hotel?

are some folks going straight there?        are some calling in anywhere specific on route?

I am thinking of having on a meander, probably calling in at Josselin on the way, any other ideas ?

We need to have a good old chat on curry night. I reckon it would be a shame to rush to trannis when we could have meander on the way. Spot of cake would be nice on the first day.
