Had  a ride to HD Gateshead with pal Bill to collect his fresh HD. A steady bimble along the coast for chips then home. Some HD £36K - that's a whole street in Hartlepool......

To clarify - Bill didn't spend 36k.

Some HD in shop cost 36k + change (these are the one man build).

I thought so but wasn't sure (too close for my eyes) - the mesh type can be a PITA  :good:

Today I had a lovely lie on the concrete in the sun, while I stripped the rear suspension linkage/inspected/greased/assembled with 4mm shorter dog bones (a grand total of 7mm shorter - previous DB were already short). I was going to fit new 39 tooth rear sprocket - but realized that rivet tool and links box is out on loan. :waiting:

I'll report on the ride height change on Friday.

Round trip of 285 miles - down to see Studley - who's memory is almost as shocking as mine ...I have a rubber for you....ring any bells?? I'm keeping it under the seat til next time. :P

A mainly dry run down to Green Hut, just a couple of showers-  unlike Ollerton? council who are a complete shower - they have  placed the picnic tables out of bounds.

Bit of a chat between the 3 of us and the cafe lass, a couple of coffees ta, sausage N egg in a bun for breakfast.

Had a the measure of SR's bracket and a hand over of some DIY equipment.

Went to Fridaythorpe for a coffee but Seaways Cafe is closed - went to Fimber Cafe just along the road - open but looking around, I was the youngest there - most  one step from care home bingo or a coffin - welcomed like a fart in a spacesuit. Cup of promptly demolished and off to Scarborough with more rain showers and some yummy mummy sight-seeing . Had a ride along the seafront and off to Whitby where the Whistlestop Cafe was closed too.. Contactless  40p for a P. and off homeward only to have the last 25 miles or so in a cloudburst.

Great test for Alt-Berg booties :good: not so great for the fat fkr that hadn't bothered to do up his jacket properly after the last stop traa la la at least it was warm :)

All in all a grand day out on a mixture of roads - up at 06:30 out at 08:10 and toys to bed by 17:00. :drinks: Friday beers acquired. Night all..

Done nowt to my TDM today, but pulled head and barrel off my XT600 though with a view to change over from standard piston to 3mm oversize wiseco high comp jobbie, I have ready bored barrel (been used with the wiseco piston) from an old one that doesn't fit so going to swap the liners over to keep my standard bits re-usable, wasn't going to do it yet but while forks are out access is so much better so may as well go for it.

I was surprised just how easy the big bore liner pressed out, didn't even have to heat it but will probably heat the good one so it stays a tight fit.

I don't recall my memory being almost as shocking as yours. :unsure2: The givi rubber, I remember it well....now.  Yeah, some jobsworth complained that bikers (always get blamed anyhoos) weren't observing the distancing rules so local council banned the green hut from using the outdoor tables n benches, £1000 fine if they ignored the ruling.  Day after loads of bikers turned up and sat on the grass having picnics.  Sounds like you caught some of the worst of the weather on yer way home Al.  Been dry here all day.  Got my hole drilled and tap fitted.  :good: Loike a plastic knife through frozen butter.   Seriously, job was a doddle, cheers. :drinks:

Hi Matey,
If you heat your XT cylinder in the oven it will just drop off the liner. No need to press! And the other way around with assembly. Heat cylinder in oven and just slide in the cold barrel. You probably know that but thought I mention it. Ask the wife before using the oven! I didn't!

That was the plan, have oven at work for that sort of thing but have cooked cyl heads in the kitchen before so she's used to it, didn't bother with other barrel as it was no good to me anyway.
