It's a fookin' pain eh.  Been there myself a few times.

Fook yeah, bench test was so easy but i'm stuck in the corner outside with a fat arse bumping the fence and it's cold today, also will hafta re-check shims as cant trust gaps from the bench test.

Mushy peasier to tell with guard off and rule.

Yup i think the cct give it a roight good wack 1st time around, oiled it up again and it has a smoother action, seems good, need to replace 2 shims now i've been able to measure them set up, seems to me setting the valve shims on the bench is a bit hit and miss...

 

Edit......Inlet clearance is 0.15-0.20

 

Got one Inlet a tad loose @ 0.21 with a 160 shim but to change it with a 165 makes it a clearance of 0.16 a bit tight but in spec, anyone think it's better to leave as is @ 0.21 cos the Inlets tend to tighten up !! could do with an oddball size shim really...

Got there in the end eh.

 

Tbh I would leave as is for now as you'll prolly be checking valve clearances shortly after you've got some miles on the engine.  You might then find other wans need adjusting.  Seem to remember some of mine needed adjusting once bedded in.

 

If not, Dappers is yer man for all things oddball.   Pretty sure he'll have the shim ya need.

I have the OEM shims dabbers. Increments of Juan instead of 5. If you wanna adjust em lettuce snow exact sizes and oil Tek a look.

As SR says, better the loose side than tight and ewe will wanna checkum after some runnings anyroad

Out, but within my tolerances. Bollockx n leave it. Wipe the oil off the feelers and it'll be spot on   time.

Okay chaps i agree a bit loose on the Inlets is alright, but but but i'll need to be swapping some of the shims around anyway cos i also have loose Exhaust clearances, 3 of em which are over spec and they tend to loosen up, me boike will sound like a Tommie gun otherwise    

 

Okay daps i'll be needing the PaLarkin gig, shimshim-a-shimshim-a-shimshimsheroo now it is time to change round a few , all join in so it's stuck in ya head all day

 

 

Edit.....daps if ya get a love letter ignore it, all i need for now then is a 160 and a 165 shim to sort the loosey gooseys out...

Well have a look see and if ya got em i'll change the Inlet but a 160 and a 165 will leave me just the exhaust cam to take out again, thems lose..

Steve, what Cliff is saying is that due to and abundance of spare time at present, partly because of the covid-19 issue, he is planning to painstakingly reassemble his motorcycle to the highest possible standard. This may be somewhat further impeded by longstanding injuries to his lumbar and cervical regions. He assures you that, the moment the motorcycle becomes a usable vehicle, he will inform you witout delay. Hope this helps mucka.

So filled her up today, no leaks at stand still, fingers crossed...also squirted a syringe full down the gallery bolt..

Then cleaned and stuck the downpipes on, they came up okay courtesy of Harpic powerplus 10xxx and a green scrubbie then a little shine with polish polish..

Next time will be either shims then waterworks or carbs on or put the windings back in the rotor, plenty to get at yet.

thanks Pete i can always rely on you for my translating requirements, can you do dappers an all please, also not that much free time as i'm in looking after the Covid19 folk...

Oh not sure about "highest possible standard" clean and working will do...and i scratched the fooker.... can ya melt a bit of powder coat i wonder and dib dab it on !
