Been a busy boy. New back tyre, rear disc and pads and oil change on the white one. New stator and oil change on the blue one. That has been sitting on the ramp for 9 months but fired up instantly. I must have done something wrong, cos there were no extra bolts left when everything was put back together. Oh and thanks once again to Celticbiker for that stator change write up. I did refer to the pics a couple of tmes, just to makesure that I was re-instating everything correcty. Ready for next weekend now.

After getting my TDM 900A to start after adjusting the valve clearances (see "where have they hidden it"), I would like to claim the record for removing and fitting the seat, tank, airbox and fairings in the course of doing one job.
Had to strip it down after test run revealed coolant leak from pipe in cam cover. Then had to strip again after forgetting to re-connect the induction air temp sensor under air box. Then found I'd reconnected the small pipes from the rad the wrong way round, more coolant pissing everywhere...

Then I decided to service the cold start plunger, ordered replacement stainless screws as recommended, but found the steel pin firmly stuck in the half way position. Someone before had had a go at it, mole grip marks on the pin and it looks a bit bent. Best I could do was to tap it out to the fully warm position and give it a bit of throttle when starting from cold. I found the idle screw fully closed to reduce the warm tick over so I'll have to tinker with that....

I made a stainless pin to fix this issue for someone Chris R I think, quite a few years ago. His had been squashed too.

Sorry Robbo but that record distinctively belongs to me i'm afraid  although you could claim it for the 900 category.

I'm happy with pink...Thought I'd have another go at the cold start plunger as I'm still waiting for the rubber bellows to arrive. Applied heat and managed to pop the pin out then spent the morning polishing with wet and dry to clean up the pin and the shaft it protrudes though. Finally got it working freely and started re-assembling the bike again but has to stop to go and have my second covid jab...

I wasn't happy. So turned the backplate round and reduced the height a bit, just in case.
Might go down the hockey puck route yet!

Does'nt look so bad, maybe a bigger footprint ie, weld a wider piece or epoxy

If you measure the diameter and overall length of pin I can make a stainless one for you in a few minutes. I know there is a 0.5mm lip to stop it falling out.
