Trust you lot to see that!

It was just a notice on the railings saying "This way out" or similar, I'm afraid.

This evening I removed the old Daytona heated grips that we’re fitted on my 9er when I bought it. They’d lost their grip over the years/miles which doesn’t make for smooth riding. I wanted something with more ‘purchase’. I’ve just fitted some Oxford Advance ‘Retro’ grips which are just the right length and are definitely grippier grips  :)

I’ll take ‘em for a test ride tomorrow afternoon, after yet another bloomin’ Teams meeting in the morning

Took it for a trip across the water. First to Ayr then Ardrossan for the ferry to Arran. Quick buzz around the top to Lochranza for the 2nd ferry across to Kintyre and down most of the way to Campbeltown. Back home via Inveraray and the military road across to Loch Lomond and Stirling. Sun, calm seas, views, mostly good roads - luvverly day out - 304 miles.

Gave it a wash in thanks.

Shadow selfie and overhead of bike on ferry from Lochranza:-

Is Rest and be Thankful repaired and open, or is it still the old military road?

Just curious. I’ll be up that way in the next month or so. Not that it makes a difference to me, I quite like using the old road  :)

Jim,

Rest & BT is/was when I was there under traffic lights and the civil engineering going on looks as if it will take a while yet. I was lucky and 2nd in line at the lights coming down and the lead car waved me past - and then chased me down!

Go see the Traffic Scotland site for latest details, and tick the Roadworks item on the LHS Layers list to show current incidents. My check just now reveals that the OMR is in use while resurfacing is going on, but the main civil work is using the lights otherwise

ADD The "military road" I referred to in the initial post is not the OMR you are asking about, but this one. Fast as you like, but leading to the "washboard" narrow nadgery loch-side road up to Arrochar. If you are going that way then try it for a major contrast to the Loch Lomond-side A82.

Gotcha Steve, I used the Haul Road a couple of years back when I stopped at the Anchor Inn, Garelochead. It was absolutely torrential rain when we went over it. I didn’t realise that was another military road though. I know what you mean about the road up to Arrochar, not fast and flowing, but I loved it  :good:

Just back from a week of touring Scotland, 1602 miles, absolutely faultless. This TDM850 with 62,000 miles, didnt burn/lose any oil. Cheers Studley, for rebuilding it, and cheers Mick, for selling it to me. I have owned it 5 years now, and love it more, every day.
Chris.

I thought it sounded about right when you set off from the Green Hut.  Is that 300mm too noisy for you ?

Oil change time, in my opinion the worst maintenance task on the TDM.  All set to replace the oil filter, opened the box and found the wrong filter. Raced out at closing time, bought the last filter in my area (rang four local shops, one shop had one filter and one O ring (not the two as required).  Bike sat overnight I'll put it back together and fill the oil this morning.
