Fixing the leaking thermostat housing.......success ! :)

Fixing the spluttering at very low revs.....no success ! :(  Stripped the carbs and cleaned all the bits, re-built and still getting the exact same problem.  Soooo, looks like it might be a blockage or air is getting in there somewhere.

Fixing the spluttering part 2............success !  :)  Running reeeeally smooth at low revs now.  Took me ages to find the problem as it was well hidden. I'd removed the carbs, again, cleaned and tweaked 'em, again and fitted 'em bacon the bike, again.  I was about to disconnect the vac pipe on the fuel pump side where it connects to the engine inlet stub but decided to disconnect it at the fuel pump end this time.  Pulled the pipe off and discovered a t connector for the scottoiler.  Then discovered the other end of the scottoiler pipe wasn't connected to the oiler.  Decided to blank it off with a screw. :D

Will connect it to the other vac pipe then I won't get any problems with the fuel pump.

My new Purchase (2002 900) is having some work done:

Steering head bearings

Front fork oil change & oil seals

Oil & Oil filter change

Spark plugs change

Air filter (putting a BMC)

Brake fluid change

Also decided to have the wheels powder coated so bearings and seals will be replaced as well

Fitted Datatool heated grips to my 9er.

Apart from having to file off the plastic tags inside, they were really easy.

Replaced oil / dust seals to forks and new oil (15w) made a difference ( perceived or otherwise) seems a bit firmer but not tried it out in anger yet.  A big thanks to all you on here and especially those on KB you have helped me in confidence and saving money ( to spend on shiny bits ;-0  )

Cheers

Tom

I got annoyed the wind blew over what was my totally unmarked mint TDM, even though it was partially sheltered from said bastard wind. Must have been turbulence in the gusts.

I had the steering lock to the right and it must have blown the bike up off the stand, leant onto a rail on the bike's right hand side, then slowly slid backwards and onto the ground (should've left it in gear...). So luckily no impact, just a gentle lie down!

Very minor mark to silencer, minor but not as minor mark to front mudguard but the massive tiger screen split in half. Grrrr. I think this is irreplaceable unless anyone knows of any others around.

Had a short road test, glad they came with baffles.

Its a speed camera warning device which I came across for less than £20 which is a whole lot cheaper than a ticket. I got caught last year when I saw the camera but hadn't seen the change of speed limit sign as I was busy overtaking a large lorry! It's just a gps device that has a database of fixed cameras and popular locations for mobile cameras. Shows red when you are approaching a camera and flashes red if you're over the limit. I'm sure all you sat nav users don't need a thing like this but for an old fashioned map man like me it seemed worth a try.

Where did you get the contraption from?

Sorry just found it on eBay.

New question. Does it work OK?
