Er, what is going on here?     Has nobody told you electrickery and water do not make good bedfellows?

No harm done and i'm sure you know Chris that delicate electronics like pcb boards etc get a ultrasonic bath, these are the only terminals i cant remove without damage to the box. did it on another fuse box but requires force or a very magic key, the US bath has removed the outer brass coat off the terminals but it's now blingy shiny clean, dried off and saturated in ACF50, all working.

Good to hear you're well on the mend. :good:
Bikes really coming together now, I'd be chomping at the bit to finish now.
Lots of conflicting stuff out there about immunity, is it because of mutation as our immune systems are normally marvellous things?

Who knows Dave, but mutation is very possible according to experts, common cold springs to mind, no immunity and no vaccine, that does'nt bare thinking about for the corona virus does it...

I thought I recognised the Aldi u/s tank. What fluid did you use, and for how long to get that result?

Steve i put it in an old yoghurt pot which sat in water in the USonic, i used distelled water in the yoghurt pot and a little washing up liquid, 8 minute cycle then for good luck another 4 mins.....shiny as a shiny thing, not worried about losing the brass coating as some say it can create resistance anyway ?

I've clean every terminal on the wiring harness by soaking in an old test tube 2 a time, in the test tube is vinegar (white) with as much salt as vcan be dissolved in it, let the terminals soak for a minute then dunk in water with baking powder, rinse and lube, i use acf50...

Threads were buggered a long time ago, i've doctored it today but will need to use m5 bolts ( fully threaded) although i think if you can turn down m6 bolts to m5 thread they will look much nicer..need to check me milliput has gone off.. i have another petcock but the reserve elbow fell out and it looks like it had a tiny oring inside, might try and milliput that also, so hold fire on the bolts Lee. Cant find an oring small enough as it extremely thin walled..

No Lee, they were reamed out to 8ml, dont ask me why now it was a long time ago, summit to do with the reserve elbow behind the left bolt hole, managed to fit an m5 spring clip (cut) into the back of the petcock bolt holes and used milliput to set them, should be rock hard in the morning, i also have another petcock with the original m6 bolt holes (the oring thing posted above) and i may use milliput on that as well, if that works and tested for leakage i'll have an original petcock back....and if i dont i'm going electric :)

On a slight tangent, any chance of a short youtube video of the first start-up when the time comes?

I'd like to witness it via the magic of the interweb!

Righto start up in the very near future, my preferance would be to ride it right away so the engine is under load but still a snagging list to do (no insurance et al) so it looks like a static start, i guess i'll need to set the idle a bit higher and try and tweek the carbs although i'm hoping they will beef wine, any pointers chaps on a rebuild, let it get up to partial temp and run a few heat cycles etc or just wait and do it on the road so i can ring it's kneck :)

Just run it and check for leaks/unusual noises etc. Then when happy ride it. I know there is lots of info about how to run on start up...often different.

I would not thrash it but more importantly don't labour it. Somewhere inbetweeen dare. Use the gearbox rather than straining tut enjun.

Behold the joys of graphogen. It will get you through these nervous times. :0)

Sounds sensible daps, i'll only thrash it after 50 miles or so...........na just messin...........have to sort insurance out in the near future and am already frustrated with it  any hoo still got new brake lines to buy and maybe/maybe not a new chain, gonna plonk the old lines on for now though and rework the fuse box, dont like it at the back it's messin with me karma....
