tink the record was set aboard a Kwacker GPZ750 obrut back in the day plus the route was actually a fair few miles longer than it is now. A team of boike mag journos had a crack at it last year and one fella had a fairly old Beemer tourer which he removed the panniers and had brackets made up to secure 2 20ltr jerry cans in place of the original Krausers which gave him 60 ltrs of fuel (incl. the bikes fuel tank) afaik he only had to fill up once on the way down !! Oil be very impressed if anyone does it in less than 12hrs.

I rode from Didcot in Oxfordshire to Ellon near Aberdeen about 8 years ago on my GPX750. That was 500 miles in 6 hours!
This included stopping for fuel approximately every 100 miles, crusing at 100mph all the way, averaging over 80mph for the trip. The way home took a bit longer as I ran out of fuel.... DOH!

My missus and son flew up to the in-laws and then my and the missus went camping at Loch Ness.

I don't think there's any need for special preperations such as camel backs etc. as you still have to stop for fuel, although the TDM has a bit more range then my old GPX....
I just grabbed a very quick sarnie etc. and a drink when I got fuel, had a quick piss and off again.
But there was way less in the way of speed cameras even then.

So yeah I'd be up for it, a TDM Cannonball eh?

I think it is a brilliant idea, afterall he was the first one to say yes to it.
Could someone ask what charity he would have wanted to support.
I am sure we could make this happen,
a fitting tribute to remember him.
