At the base of the posts from our friend Carpe TDMick has a philosophical phrase: Who dies with the most toys wins!

Cheers!

Life is an adventure!

Love the bike huskyjon! Looks reet adventurous! Sheesh look at me exclaiming everywhere. I've found in snotty stuff I need to use a bit of clutch to keep the bike tickng over in it's happy place, I've gone down 1 tooth on the front sprocket which is a help. I had to ride a wet clay trail awhile ago, well, I didn't have too but you get the idea, & found the bike would plug along just above idle with a little clutch slip. Even so it was grip slip grip slip etc.
I'm very jealous of your footrests, I really need to get some grippier ones.

TDM 850 Loud and unusual. CRM 250r Woo hoo! DT 230 Lanza Fiddled with.... Bloody hell, is that legal? GG Randonee AKA "I didn't think that was possible".

For your interest HJ

........other mods included MX footpegs as the originals are slippery

bar risers and Pro taper sxc lowrise bars

I lowered my swivel pegs that came off an early trail bike.

I also did away with the original sloaping rearward bar clamps & put straight vertical clamps with risers, it gave me better feel.

Hi Harvey, I know what you mean regarding slipping the clutch mine runs like a pig below 2000 rpm and shoots off at 2100, BUT ive bought a full carb refurb kit from NRP and hopefully, with new toobs should run better.

Ive also gone down one tooth on front, seems to have helped a but, but will be happier when carbs are sorted.

As for foot pegs, buy some of these

Post them to me and ill make em fit :-D and post em back

On second thought seeing as your in New Zealand postage maybr not such a good idea, haha. Sorry

And I had wondered how you had done them MB, thanks for the photo.
Do they catch on anything when riding off tarmac?? With them being lower than stock???

Very rarely if I pick my line, just have to be conscious of toes in, as that's how I broke my fibular on this ride: Lake Gairdner Dry Lake Speed Trials 2009 a simple low speed, caught the edge gutter of the cut up dirt road with the toe not the foot rest, following a car rut after all the recent thunderstorms.

On tarmac no issues as you can see from the "chicken strips" :P

Being spring loaded they won't dig in if you misjudge too.

Hope it helps. :good:

I have read somewhere that XTZ660 foot pegs fit the 900. I am looking at fitting new pegs soon so plan to visit local Yamaha dealer to measure them up. If they do fit there is the option to fit after market ones such as SW Motech or Pivot Pegz as well.

Apparently some KTM pegs fit but I took to my bed when I saw the price.

Thanks for the info guys. :badgerrock:

Oh, riding in snow huskyjon, I miss that, slightly. 12 years in Scotland & I owned a car for 18 months. Get a CZ for the winter, they go anywhere & start at -20c after you get the snow off it with an few kettles of hot water.

Ive got the husky if the old TDM wont cut it in the snow. Its a bitch to start witj its oeft hand kickstart, and 577ccs teying to break your leg, but strangley runs better when its freezing. With knobblys and a 100kg wet weight its perfect for snowy fun. Even if you drop it its like picking up a bicycle :-) sounds filthy too with its straight through system and cut down pipe.

Why not kick it over while it's on it's side-stand? Use your right leg.

HaHa if only I could, the kicksart is so high when the enduro wheels are on that I am on my tiptoes when sat on it and have to lean the fooker against a wall to start it and im 6"2! The bars stand a mahoosive 4ft 7 inches off the floor. Plus that and the fact that the kick start fouls the sidestand when its down, bad design flaw! But still aswome.
