Guess you are on a 850 and I don't know what springs are std in their forks?

I certainly don't know what I have been saddled with currently, as the springs were hand me downs in a fresh set of shiny fork stanchions.

They are constant rate affairs, so definitely not standard.

What did become apparent though, after setup and a comparison was possible, was that the TDM was already pretty handy at putting it down through the corners with just the original, standard, front end.

To my mind, this has demonstrated, at least where my 850 is concerned, that there is a reason why the front end is the way it is.

You won't hear this from the majority. (sag/dive etc)

I won't hesitate to return back to stock if I can't get the "nailing corners" feeling back again.

Bargain too.

I'll bear in mind that 140mm figure for the air gap that Ohlins specify. Starting at 130mm standard (I believe), I'll be increasing the gap by 10mm steps, using 10 weight oil. It's all hit and miss, but would be nice if I hit it on the first attempt.

These (above), may be these (below)

but I can only guess as there are no markings/ratings.

Only a week?  If you've managed to get it cleaned up in that time then I can only assume Al must have put some effort in when he had it too :D

Lots of bits and pieces done in the sun today. Loosened fork pinch bolts and re-aligned steering. Put most of the bits back on my bike that I took off when I thought I was upgrading and fixed some of the damaged headlight shroud with the baking soda and superglue hack. Repositioned the Stebel so it hopefully is out of reach of damage under heavy braking. Prepared the stanchions for another Araldite application--I'll rub it down tomorrow and finish the odd jobs. It's been through the wars has my bike.

Fitted a new rear PR3, last one lasted 5500km, front has still plenty of meat. And cleaned the garage. Mounted summer wheels on Paul's and wifey's cars.

Got mine out of the garage and rode it yesterday, first time I've had a chance to get out on it in months.  Felt good.

Did the oil and filter change "double dip", yet again. Replaced (drilled out) LH footpeg rubber which was a little bald after 40K and found the bullet connector that kept pulling on the LH rear indicator, causing the relay to do the indicator two-step occasionally.

I just loathe that oil filter cover and those nasty 8mm bolts. 50/50 whether it will leak or not and you only ever find out under load when out on the road.

Then there's the draining, re-bottling the precious oil and wrapping the filter up in a carrier bag until I could get back to my O-ring collection.

BTW, the Halfords O-rings become hard and unyielding when subjected to engine heat, but beggars can't be choosers and this one got me through 6000.

I changed the oil on the Mrs Diversion 600 at the weekend, got to say the car style screw on oil filter makes the job so much easier than on my TDM.

Saturday - went for a cracking mid morning run over to Saltire Suzuki in Edinburgh to pick up a part for me Dads Gixxer. Out via Edinburgh/Penicuik road, quick dart onto the bypass, then back home via the A70 Lanark road. Great ride.

Also got the chance to have a prod and a poke over a couple of Tracers and the MT range they have in. They seem to have done a lot to the shop since I was last there including a mini refurb, dedicated Yam MT section and the inclusion of a pretty smart Victory department at the back.

And after looking over the all the shiny new stuff, I got to go outside, admire my TDM in the sun and ride it home.  ;)

Looks to be a bit on the large size from the photos, could you give the dimensions please, where did you manage to fit it...not sure I have room or may have to jiggle stuff around.

Re: InfoRad M1 speed camera warning system

I got one from the eBay site. Quick delivery of a very complete set in a nice zipped folder. Instructions OK; website connection went OK & did its thing. Fitted the bits and it worked straight off, no waiting.

I put the central gubbins under the seat on the RHS dropped down inside the rear fairing towards the front. It seems to have happily jammed there OK, and the wires are about the right length to reach forward. The GPS unit is stuck on top of the brake reservoir and the LED wand jammed down between the fairing and screen pointing at me from the RHS. There is a neat channel around the tacho that is perfect to take the wire. Both wires travel forwards down the RHS of the bike between the tank and frame. It is possible to thread the wand and receiver under the other things below the seat so the wires are neat. I did not have to take anything apart to install it.

So far it has worked accurately for all the local monitoring sites I know and even taught me about a couple I did not. The warning distance / time? to the site and after leaving it can be adjusted along with a few other things, but the default settings seemed OK to me.

I find the speed-related warning is a bit inaccurate. It flashes for 60mph when my GPS tells me I'm at 56 or thereabouts. The flashing red is bright and attention-grabbing if the LED is set to point straight at you.

Altogether a neat package for only £20.

UPDATE:  My unit packed up after a few months. It updated OK once but refused to do so again and appears dead. I cannot get any response from the maker, and the seller / supplier via Amazon is not giving any help. However Amazon is refunding my payment - well done to them.

Fitted these levers today to replace a knackered brake lever and I'm very impressed with the quality despite being just over £15 for the pair.

Doddle to fit and very good quality. Easy to adjust and comfy to use! Smiles all round.

Yeah, did my girlfriend's CB500 oil change. very easy compared to the TDM. Me feel a little bit uncertain about the result of tightening those five 8 mm screws

Also - why isn't that &%")(%¤# dipstick measue made for bike on side stand ? That (&/"%()=/¤#&/ bike was delivered without a centre stand ! I'll do it tomorrow - once and for all make marks on the dipstick intended for bike on side stand....

...and also did oil change on my TDM, btw.... :badgerrock: necessary but no improvement - not really my favourite work.....

Steve, thanks for taking the time to post that up, think i will be struggling to find space to fit on mine as most vacant spots are filled, maybe i can shuffle about, in the mean time i have downloaded an app called camsam to try out, seems to recognise speed okay and have had a couple of false alerts of speed cameras from adjoining roads to the motorway, need to try this out a bit more but may well end up with your option.

That space on my bike is taken up with a tool bag and the opposite side with other paraphanalia and the middle with the alarm, so that's probably the best place on the bike for it. Hmm were to put me tools.

Had bit of boo boo.... dropped the bike on the gravel car park at 0 speeds. Nothing major just: broken brake lever, indicator and scratched panel and can :( and massive dent to pride. I have lost my footing and haven't tried to recover, as this was leg I had ACL done 5 months ago....
