Front forks, 10W oil, 140mm air gap, butch springs and un dropped the stanchions back to standard.

So much better, balanced, steering and when cranked over.  :good:

Dropped the coolant, had the radiator out, changed the plugs and discovered that a pair of cooler DPR9EA-9 were fitted.

They were very clean considering they had done at least 17K with me and prolly more with the previous owner.

Went back to hotter DPR8EA-9 plugs.

Start up from cold needs less choke now, but acceleration a little bit snatchy on an opening throttle.

Need to re educate throttle wrist.

Pinked up the coolant and fitted some of Rolf's blue coolant hoses to bling the boikes blue/black scheme.

Swinging both ways.  :blush2:

Ordered a front Avon Storm U2 as I spotted that there is less than 0.5mm left above the markers and an MOT is only 3 weeks away.

£74.00 fitted to a loose wheel??????? I'll have some of that - Shurely shome mishtake?  :dunno:

Got to install the Nitron Sport shock. Only tools needed: a 15mm wrench, a 17mm socket and a reversable clamp.

Very neat, just use the clamp between the swing and "luugage strap hook" to take pressure off the shock.

In theory.

But I did of course screw up - trying to push the upper-end bolt in through lower mount.....so what could have been a 20 min. job took an hour..... :rotflmmfao:

Haven't got the time for setting it up & test riding yet, probably won't until next week.....

Had my fingers in the rear end today!  Wheel out for bearing check, sprocket carrier bearing is having an early bath & theres a bit of end float in the swing arm pivot.... and play in the suspension rocker...poobah!  Frame-mount bush seized as is par for the course ( 2002 bike serviced annually & not a sign of the slippery stuff to be seen- lazy B'stards). After the usual humming & ha-ing, & a quick prayer to the god of ineptitude I broke out the expanding internal puller (AKA rawlbolt & threaded bar), bacofoil & blow torch & after fifteen minutes of grunting & getting in my own way, out she pops ! Thats my annual quota of jamminess/luck all used up . Time for a smoke and sit down to remove the god-awful rim stickers from the rear wheel .

My mums monkey makes many mistakes.

took the back brake caliper off for an inspection of the pads and found the pads were shot and the caliper shims and pad springs were disintegrating. First time I've looked, as pads normally get changed with my rear tyre.

Went and looked, it's still there. ;)

Can't see much biking time coming at the moment.

Bought these this week, thought they'd fit the hand guards or perhaps as 'eyebrows'.

Might get to fit them this week end.

This evening - drained tank, carbs off to change e tubes - float bowl screws refused to move so bollox to it and re-assembled with a I'll do it this next winter attitude + tea and scones (as I've run out of cake). Plastic welded the little busted fairing bits ready to refit. Cursed Mr. Yamaha and his Marmoset monkey hands.

Did a spot of carb fettling this afternoon & upped the tick over to around 1200 to try & solve the grabby throttle, popped to the local emporium of alcohol tobacco & other whole sale goods (20 mile trip) and seems much better, I do like an easy fix. ☺

Found my bike leaning on the wall, lucky it didn't fall over.  Soon found out what caused it, a rear puncture. 100 miles on the bike since owning it, front had a slow leak from the rim, not looking very promising is it ?

When I looked at the pics in your linked gallery, there were tyre ads emerging! Maybe some algoritm analysing pictures of bikes detecting you have a poor set of tyres ?  :rotflmmfao:

Took it for an MOT. Sailed through as expected. Wasn't swayed by any of the new Yams in the showroom.

Front Avon Storm 2 Ultra fitted to loose wheel. £74.00 balanced and disposed.

Carson Tyre and Autocare / Melksham, Wiltshire / Adrian

Cheapest I could get from Oponeo online was £74.00 delivered and that was from last years stock that had passed its sell by date too.

Otherwise it would have cost me £80.00 fur a fresh'un.

Rode forth in the sunshine to get a WOF, after a no starty start. Motor would not turn over initially but finally fired. Been standing forlornly for a month. Let 10 psi out of the rear tire after the puncture repair and put a few psi in the front.

Took the missus on the back so she could pick her car up from the panel beaters next door. First time I've had a pillion in yonks. No dramas.

Pulled another wheelie, well, two, 2nd and 3rd gear, on the way home. Must be something in the petrol lately, I've never so much as managed to flap the bars in all my years on a TDM, and my last two rides have had the front come up. Could be Tracer envy.

All in all the TDM is still putting a big grin on me chops.
