I pay no attention to the SHARP rating system. MCN slated the system and Arai lids score poorly. In my opinion Arai lids are amongst the very best in the world. Some very cheap helmets scored well by placing reinforcement at the target test areas, meaning the rest of the lids was sub-standard.

And I don't see how my HJC IS Max scores 3 stars, a flip front lid which stays closed in only 40% of impacts, and my ARAI Chaser also scores 3 stars, a full face lid costing 3 times the price!!

I tend to agree with you, and HJC are among the best in Helmet manufacturers. I bought the AGV because firstly I liked the look of it but mainly because of the comfort. I originally wanted a flip style lid, but none of the ones I tried felt right for me, so have stayed with a full face type.

Anyway it was my second good decision of the year, my first was my Black TDM excl.gif cool.gif

intersted to see the evidence for that

In fairness I'm going on what I've read in MCN so take it with a pinch of salt (regarding the SHARP tests)

There's no recommendation in what I've written, just my opinions wink.gif

Looking to pick the brains of Schuberth owners. I am thinking I am going to need to replace my trusted Shoei Multitech after 4 years of nearly everyday use.
Apart from going for another Shoei Multitec the other helmets that have taken my interest are the 2 schuberth flips fronts C2 & C3
So what are you opinions:
obviously you can get the C2 cheaper & if you believe SHARP the C2 is better at protecting you head. The C3 seem to get loads of good reviews the only real bad thing I have heard is the cost of a replacement visor that is supposed to be £75-80.

C3 and Multitech seem to be a similar shape, ie if a Multitech fits you a C3 should.

I had a Shoe Raid before the C3, and the difference in noise is phenominal, I reckon it's equivilent to going about 20mph slower. Internal airflow is good too, I'm a speccy twat and hardly ever get any problems with my glasses misting up unless I'm stationary for a fair while, in which case I can flip the front up. Helmet goes on without having to take my glasses off too, but I guess that's standard for all flip fronts.
The internal sun visor comes down lower on the C3 than the C2, I found the C2 I tried on had a bit too big a gap at the bottom of it. My only real complaint about the C3 is the chin strap has a couple of extra straps to stop it moving forward too far, meaning it sits very close to your throat and takes a while to get used to.

Tony replaced his C3 visor recently so can advise on that one, he also had a C2 before so should have a better idea of the differences.

I have had Schuberth for a number of years currently a C2 and very satisfied with it just bought a new 'pinlock' visor complete for it from HERE cost £74:00 but lots of visors are now priced in that ballpark. The C3 is the quietest flip you can buy and a lot quieter than a lot of non flip helmets. good.gif good.gif

I have the C3 and have done for a while now. Bought it when they first appeared here. Had a BMW System 5 before that. Same manufacturer I believe.
Tried the C2 but couldn't close it around my chin. Got to admit the C3 is really good. I'm not bothered about price of visors etc. I haven't replaced mine
yet. No need. They are a bloody good helmet despite the price and I for one will replace with the same when the time comes.

I am now looking for a Schuberth C3 but trying to find the best price I can.
So far the best price I have seen is £329 Here but it is for a Metallic Anthracite
colured one were I would prefer Black ( always bought black helmets & its nothing to do with being a 900 owner)
Anyone now of any other good deals for Schuberth C3 size medium preferable in Black, if so give us a shout.

There seem to be a number of outlets with C3's in their sales, might be more of them in the coming weeks ahead. unsure.gif

..................FWIW I've been looking to replace my Shoei Multitech (size 57 = med), and have tried the equivalent Schubeth C3 (med) which I found to be quite claustrophobic, and which sat oppressively close to my chin.......not for me then, but of course anyone sensible will suck it and see before throwing money at it.
...........on top of which, since I wear photochromic specs, a flip-down internal sun-visor seems irrelevant .............

I'm gonna stick with a replacement Multitech..............anyone know where the bargains are to be found?..............Crossan?

Will need to double check that as I am a size 57cm in the Shoei multitec. I also cant believe how much the Multitec has gone up in price since I bought mine.

never sure how you can decide on Helmets or Tyres without trying them, had helmets that felt great in the shop but after a couple of weeks never worn again, one persons best thing since sliced bread is someone else's pile of dog doo.

make of this what you will but as a bench mark for safety what lids do club and pro races use ? given they are the ones who's sweed is bouncing off the tarmac more than most.

Defiantly, thats why I think I may have to wait to try the Shoei , I have tried the Schuberth on have checked out the reveiws spoke to people on here that own the Schuberth but I did not feel 100% on the Schuberth. I know that sound weird after trying a lid on for 5 min in a shop but hey! When I am shellinng out £350-400 for a helmet I want to know I like its fit & feel. As for the club racer thing I am not sure about that as I have not seen a club racer with a flip front helmet tongue.gif however I have seen a lot of Strathclyde's finest wearing them tongue.gif
