The S10 still looks the favorite to replace my TDM 900 when the time comes. ( Or possibly the 800 Tiger)
They will need toput a decent faring on it as well as making the seat and tail end a bit longer and a bit more substantial looking and no dangle berry number plate hanger. I still would prefer a Twin cylinder but a triple would be ok.

I've seen worse. They need to plump the seat up a bit for those big distances and go mad with the headlamps of course!

I'd rather have the existing 9'er with the forks and swinger off the mock up fock up.

The new bike that looks really promising is the new Suzuki V-strom 1000.

I can't understand why there are so many objections to the new TDM - I think it looks good. I think the most likely
problem with it is that the tank will be too small and it will not have a good range. I won't be parting with my TDM 900 though
because I am happy with it so what would be the point.

I like it too. But a TDM it is not. An MT-09f, it could be. Very nice too.

To me, the faired MT-09 seems brilliant, but still a few months, or years, off yet.
Going for monster adventure bikes that are never taken off road always seems a bit daft to me and very much style over substance job. (Range Rover look-a-likes started the trend from 43 years ago). This is probably because I am too scrawny to hold the things upright!
HOWEVER ... tomorrow morning I am going to see the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 "prototype", along with the 2014 Kawasaki Z1000SX, with slim panniers fitted.
They are both at Millenium Motorcycles, St Helens and I aim to be there first thing. Coffee and bacon butties in their cafe if you fancy it.
I will then go to the Gym and watch NUFC against Liverpool on Sky TV which promises to be a much more chastening experience
Let's all look forward to our next bikes ... whatever they are.

I'll stick with my 9'er. The crop of bikes with rear footpegs for orangutans rather than people amazes me. That thing looks more sport oriented and maybe someone at MCN playing silly buggers .............. again. I've no problems with a properly faired new TDM that has an appropriate screen as well as other ridding comfort for both rider and pillion. This thing has none of that. TBH if it's either that or nothing then IMO Yamaha should let the TDM RIP.

What would people like?
Spoked wheels?, better placed exhaust?, better lights?, better fairing? Or in my case, it's fine as it is

TDM now stands for Tragically Discontinued Motorcycle.
The write up on the MT09 in MCN wasn't very good - they hated the too sudden throttle response - sounds pretty awful - maybe when there is
a MT09 forum there will be loads of ideas about how to combat the jerkiness - I.e the equivalent of airflap mods, Dobeck TFIs etc.
They rated the Triumph Street Triple more highly because it doesn't have "ride by wire" and all those riding modes, traction control etc.

I don't really know who to believe . It seems to me that when someone has bought a bike they are inevitably going to say its great. It is unlikely that someone would pay £7000 for a bike and then admit that it had problems. The only thing is to have a test ride. The MT09 is probably a great bike but like many riders, tank size and range are one of my priorities when choosing a bike. The 14 litre tank rules the MT09 out for me. I am surprised that Yamaha have brought out a bike with such a tiny tank.
