Didn't like it at all. Small mirrors. Why someone thinks two zipped semi hard shell's make a decent pannier is beyond me.
Yamaha are not the only ones doing this.
Not waterproof or anything proof.
These two wheels at the front scooters are taking off. Lots of marques doing them now.

with the price of new bikes going up and wages down, only old farts can afford to buy new motorcycles today, soon they'll have training wheel and adult diapers storage compartments too

Seat too hard?
It was as it happens, but the rest of it wasn't good either

A case of the sum being less than the parts.
lots of cool kit, but the result is still a bit of a dead parrot.
imho

KTM 1050 instead?
But then you're back to 4000 mile service, 35mpg and 56 fastener oil change no ?
I've noticed no-one is calling for the site to include the the Tracer now.

2. I asked whether Tracer could be incorporated here on Carpe.
I reckon the Tracer could be a good budget bike. Someone will love it.
The issue with ktm990 was the dual fuel tanks that hang either side of the engine. Great for low centre of gravity, but it did mean one has to take one off to get to the oil screen.
To do that the crash bars had to come off. Hence it was such a ball-ache.

Don't ya fancy a Tigger 800 ET ? Seems to be a great bike from what owners have said.

Tiger still looks a mess design-wise, IMHO. All kind of dis-integrated, and unlovely parts on view.
I know beauty's in the eye, etc., but for me you're describing the Tracer perfectly, not the XC, which is a refined, beauty in comparison. But then I've always thought the 9er is fugly, while many here think it fine looking.

Sat on the Tracer today and couldn't find anything wrong with either the comfort or the riding position. I liked the dash, overall looks which put Multistrada etc to shame, 17" front wheel which means all rubber will now be available, 115 bhp which from experience of the MT-09 is more than adequate, centre stand, hand guards, traction control, ABS, adjustable seat, bars and screen and allegedly excellent headlights. I've owned 2 TDM900s and loved them but in my opinion the Tracer addresses all the TDMs shortfalls and more besides. All for £8,149 which in my view is a steal. As a result if I still have the same view after a test ride then a nice red one will appear in my garage in 2015.

I stick by my Tiger description. The Tracer is either just photogenic or it really is a great looking bike. I look forward to seeing one. I am firmly in the 'love the look of the TDM' camp - beautifully proportioned, if not actually beautiful; then I discovered its engine spec, and found one to buy. Much missed, it is. Anyway, it's best we have a variety of opinions, innit. Are you going for a Tigger, Muddy? (there's a test in MCN this week)

No, I won't be buying a Triumph. I've found that pairing up with a looker brings with it a lot of strife. In the end I prefer the plain, reliable types, which is why I've had the TDM since 2005
Me and me mate both thought the Honda CB500X was potentially a decent buy for the future. I liked the lines and sitting on it everything seemed to fit well--I could flat foot it better than the TDM and there was less of a stretch to the bars and it's light enough not to pull a muscle if it starts to drop. Very economical too by all accounts. A decent, practical bike for the money. I do hope that Yamaha do something else with the MT07, that might tempt me.

Ooh. Handbags at dawn. I'm reserving judgement.
It might be wart like, and grow on me.
No handbags at all EeeTea, everyone has their own opinions and I understand and respect where Muddy and Leehenty are coming from. I agree, it's not a TDM, but it is from the same stable and, for me at least, it will serve a similar purpose. Others might want to go the MT-07 route and I wouldn't mind betting that a version similar to the Tracey will appear by the end of 2015 and that will be truer to the TDM DNA than Tracey.

I'd be interested to know what they are ding with that 900 twin engine that was on display at a show early last year.

Aha, forgot all about that. Yes. It'll be mighty if the MT07 is anything to go by.
