Item circled, in red. Im missing one in one of the forks. I just remembered since the last rebuild I did. I had to get them built up so I could ride it home from work. I reckon its something important, else why would it be there? Searched high and low, cant find them. Anyone got one knocking about? Haha

Not sure if the 850 forks are vastly different to the 9er but that looks like the "oil lock piece".

How did you know I had weetabix!? Haha

I did them a few month back, one side came apart really easy. It was the side with the collar in. The other side I had to use an air gun and a long thin bar, modified to press against the bottom part inside to stop it spinning. Was a bugger I tell ya. But, like I said, they had to be put back together and will have to do them again soon. When o have the new collar and seals etc.

The engine was quite easy after I got all the bolts out. And covered in excess oil left in the tank! Haha

I mean actually seperating the stantion from the lower cos the bushes can ride up and jam making life a bit awkward, i guess you did'nt have that problem by the sound of it.

I just used the stanction as a slide hammer, with the body in the vice. Wasnt too strenuous, but it took some pulling.

A gentle hand action does the job - don't yank to fast or you'll ride up the bush in no time, we all remember our first time.........................  :pimp:

Today I ordered some paint for the frame, led indicators and relay. I went to B&Q and brought myself a cord drill and grinder for £35 for the pair. They didnt have the drill bits or grinder bits I needed, neither did Aldi special buys, so Ill be after some tomorrow when I have the car. Hope to post some more updates tomorrow!!

Bought the bits for the grinder I needed today, from jtf. Unfortunately, they didnt last very long before the wire brush parts started to fall apart and penetrate my clothes! Haha Ive cleaned all the paint off the outside of the frame, just the inside and the steering head to do, oh and engine. Looks really nice without paint!

Don't use the wire brush on the engine matey, small shards of steel wire will stick in the alloy and then go rusty after you've painted it and been out for a ride in the rain.  Proper brass wire wheels are what you need, just be sure they're not the brass coated steel wire wheels.  Or you can just hand sand it down with wet n dry.

So, today I played football so havent had chance to work on the bugger. I finish work at 2 all next week, so Ill be working on it everyday at home or at work when I need to weld parts on (youll see!).
Ive been thinking about the end date, hopefully end of January, should I go and get it dynod or trust reading the factory pro carb set up that studley has mentioned a few times, and leave it?
How much would a tune up on the dyno be? Ish?
