Little trip from Oxford to Salisbury along the winding A338. I had stiffened up the rear suspension on preload and mucked around with the other dial ( rebound ? ) I dunno? Anyway, whatever I did it has worked, no more grounding on the hero blobs/ centre stand with the pillion on. Nice balanced feel between front and rear. Bit firmer when on my own but still comfy. So nice to not to have to worry about filling up the tank so often as well.
Reckon I need to look at this air box mod as it is a little snatchy at lower revs at times and have adjusted by blipping the throttle at lower speeds automatically to compensate.

Up at dawn - installed centre stand (thanks, Rafal, beautiful fit), Osram Night Breakers & shortened clutch lever switch so starter would engage while in gear (stopped working when new cnc-levers were installed).

Drove to work - in place at 8:45.

Shouldn't all working days start this way ?  :P

New Delkelvic exhaust fitted today, 2-1, shorter than standard and oval.
It looks great, the bike looks quite slender now, and the sound...well I should have a few less people pull/step out in front of now!! :-)

Since a lot of people have announced their "end of motorbike season" rides, I changed from summer leathers to autumn/winter trextiles (still without the thermo liner) and fitted my handguards again.

Well, the end of an era...insurance wrote off my bike this week 'cos some f*****g t**t saw fit to knock my bike over with his car an drive away...

I had a witness who saw the guy pick the bike up, put it back on it's stand, proclaim "that was lucky, not a mark on it"an' get back in his car.

Five years of the most enjoyable bike I've ever owned...longest I've ever owned one bike too.

I though I had him too 'cos the witness took a proper look, saw the damage where the monkey' not only knocked it over but proceeded to push it up the road on its side!! and managed to read the first four digits of the reg' and get the make an' model Nissan Qashqui in unusual dark red/purple but the cops didn't even bother to do a decent search.

.....I'd just finished a near enough full rebuild...all bearings front to rear, wheels, headset, all rear links, swing arm, brakes, forks rebuild, top end, cables, chain an' sprockets an' almost all genuine yam kit too.......gutted...fkn gutted...I genuinely feel sick

When this happens, you ride off, 1000 miles later the valves lunch your pistons. Cheaper to start fresh In my experience. (VF1000F - which I then rebuilt!)

They tend to write TDms off for very little damage, can't you buy it back and fix it?

I did buy it back but after I've put both pipes back, plastics both sides, winkers, bars, bar ends, hand guards, screen, dash plastics, footpeg, footpeg bracket an' repaired the damage to the tank I decided to cut my losses an' sell it on... To be fair it was an '02 did have over 65,000 on't clock which was making it hard to get cover for when I was taking it abroad an' they gave me £1800 so it could have been worse..

On the upside, I'm now in the market for a later, well loved one

Bash plate fitted, now I have stock (Motad) header pipes, instead of whatever welded together nonsense was on her when I bought her!
