Well it sounds like a big cooked breakfast would have been a good plan. laugh.gif
Nearly fell off my chair when I worked out I'd done 52.5mpg on that run. ohmy.gif

Just want to echo my thanks to Chris for organising what was my first Carpe get-together.

The run seemed to have good effect on my mileage too, I had about 56mpg, though I did change my CO that morning (see other thread).

Good to meet you all, see you next time.

Well I've just filled up and it would seem I got 56mpg too (including journey to and from meet). I normally get 50, however I ride it. ohmy.gif I did service her on Fri, but I doubt some new oil and coolant will make a difference..... unsure.gif I am quite surprised 'cos we weren't hanging about (at least not by my standards blush.gif ) Maybe the loobman I also fitted has made my chain super smooth and efficient. mellow.gif

Just been for a pleasant evening blast/bimble through the New Forest. Nice empty roads this time of night;, not even too many ponies/cows/pigs standing in the road (as they do). I did nearly send a hedgehog back to his maker though.... blink.gif If it's not the potholes, the wildlife will get you. rolleyes.gif

Does your normal riding including a fair bit of town work? I find that's what kills my MPG.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Not really, no. Usually a mixture of the sort of stuff we were doing on Sun, plus motorway. So it's probably the, ahem, motorway cruising speeds that do it.

Just thought of something - I usually have the panniers on. That'll be it. Two bloody great parachutes on the back!!! rolleyes.gif

I just worked out my milage and I was up to nearly 57mpg. That's a good 8 mpg more than when commuting along similar roads but going much slower? How's that?

Could it be atmospheric conditions? I'm sure mine has more grunt when it's cold and dry, or maybe that's just me imagining it. Why else would at least 4 of us have better than expected mpg? Bizarre. blink.gif

Cold air will give you a bit more power but I'd be suprised if it would make that big a difference to the fuel economy. Probably the fact that we did 100 miles in one hit will have had an effect (only one cold start), and how much of your trip to work is on open roads? Presumably there's a chunk on slower roads at either end. We were also lucky with traffic, not much slowing down and then accellerating again to overtake. Should think Cavey's parachutes make quite a difference too.
Still it's quite an impressive improvement, I reckon Guinnesgrim should do an experiment and wind the throttle open a bit more on his daily commute and see if his fuel consumption goes down. laugh.gif

Presumably with a K&N and the new cans you're making a bit more power than mine on standard filter and Nexxus. My 180 to reserve on the motorway was crusing at 75-80, I can believe an extra 20mph could knock 10% off the fuel range. As for country lane blasts you tend to shift a bit quicker than me so again should use more fuel. Mind you that Alton run would have worked out at around 173 miles to 15 litres which is way more than I would have expected! blink.gif
