I agree with Dappers. Your statement speaks volumes. You didn't read the road or adapt to the conditions. It's something that you'll learn from experience , it takes a long time. Maybe you'd benefit from a RoSPA course.

I'm not preaching or sitting on my high horse cause I still get caught out every so often after 25 years of riding.

One other thing , were you lead man Hutch ? With your riding experience it's maybe better riding mid pack then you get to see the lines and speed others take.

Anyways , glad you're ok good.gif

Firstly, glad to hear your OK and Trixi will live to fight another day. good.gif

But

I'm with Dappers on this one, It's about reading the road and conditions, knowing the limits of you and your bike, and riding within them.
A police instructor I ride with sometimes said the order of priorities when riding is-:
What you can see
What you can't see
What might possibly happen.

And this has saved my life on more than one occasion.
When I was out with Chris and Sponge on Friday I was noticeably slower than both cos I was 2 up and couldn't stop or turn as quick as them, there's no embarrassment in riding slower than someone else, better to arrive 20 minutes later than not at all.

However having said all that Spongy thought we were goners when I pulled out of a side road across the path of a quarry vehicle that was going quicker than I thought, apparently there was only a couple of foot in it.

The fact is that we all make mistakes, so long as you learn from them and don't make the same mistakes a second time your doing it right.

BTW, did the 4x4 driver stop to see if you wuz OK and did you give em a piece of your mind?

CB

Nope, he just kept going, if he had looked in his mirrors, he would of defo seen that I came off cos he had a perfect view of where it all happened ranting.gif
I always stick near the back of the pack cos I know I am a slower rider than others and I do not do anything on the bike that I am not happy or comfortable with doing, and I am more than happy to make the front riders wait half an hour if need be for me to catch up, it's funny, as I was only saying this to ChrisG on the Friday night!
