So finally it's time to introduce myself here; my name is Andrea and I'm from Vienna/Austria. I decided to buy a bike as part of my bucket list and the main reasons why I ended up buying a TDM is a very special person who recommended a TDM. He's a true friend, someone I can rely on and that's the reason why he's my personal Captain. Most of you know him anyway I suppose.

So my bike: it's a TDM 900, colour black and people from German TDM-Forum keep joking about it as it seems to be the only TDM ever that's not so absolutely reliable. It has been back to the dealer 5 or 6 times within 18 months in order to have some problems fixed and I thought about getting a BMW800GS instead but finally it seems that my TDM and me we've sorted out our troubles....at least that's what I hope!

I hope I'll meet some of you in July as I think about joining the RTT13 in Monschau if possible.

Image: that's the first pic of my bike when I got her - I was so proud :-)

So that's it from Vienna, cya
Andrea

PS: in case you haven't noticed so far: I'm the one who intended to participate in Erzbergrodeo and Chris spent the last 2 months talking me out of it. I also enjoyed the discussion about my plum size although I had to ask Chris if it meant what I thought. So: na, don't seem to be that big....

thanks a lot for your nice welcome here. @dapleb: it wasn't really Mr TeDeum himself who told me about his manager it was rather his lovely Mrs TeDeum when the two of us were having a chat on men not being able to pack their suitcase. It was then that I heard about Mr TeDeum's personal manager for his trips....you see the point why we had a nice laugh? I hope I'll get to know some of you soon!

Hello there. I'm a recent convert to the TDM scene coming from Honda VFRs (750FR & 800FiY).
I've been quite active on the Bikers Oracle VFR site but have decided I need a bike with ABS and a bit less weight - it's an age thing.
The pictured bike came up relatively locally and now occupies my workshop, on SORN while there is salt about and my Old Faithful CBX750 does duty.
I've already made myself familiar with the resources here and prepared a list of "things to do", and made a start by adding some red striping to the black paintwork.
I'd like the Title the skinny sassenach if possible - I've used it before elsewhere.
"Hello" to anyone who recognises me. "See you all later" to everyone.
'bye for now.

Hi Everybody

My name is Andy and I own a 2001 TDM 850 in Red and Black.  I've had her since she was six months old and have had no urge to ride any other bike since, or at least until now.  Together we have covered 43K miles. Until four years ago I rode all year round.  The TDM has never failed an MOT and has never had any advisories.  I've done all the servicing myself apart from chain and sprocket replacements, wheel bearings and sprocket carrier bearings, which I have trusted to a local bike one man bike shop.  Apart from rattling a bit in third gear, the bike is in fine fettle.  I suspect the rattling might be cam chain, but it's been like it for ages and hasn't got worse and doesn't appear in any other gear.

The bike has a Nexxus exhaust that was on the bike when I bought her, a taller flip top screen and a givi top box rack.

The only custom item on the bike is a seat that was remodelled by the guy who made the seat for Billy Connelly's trike.

Two years ago I had the front callipers rebuilt and installed a Hagon shock after finding a crack in the adjuster nut at the bottom of the spring on the original Yamaha shock.

I'll get some pictures taken and post at some point.

I'm off to test ride a CDF1000 on Saturday but I've already talked myself out of that, so I might even phone and cancel the appointment.  After all this time I feel dreadful even thinking about buying another bike.  It's an odd feeling.

This is a great forum that I didn't know about till now and has reignited my enthusiasm for a bike that I've always considered fantastic!

Cheers

Andy
