Having read many many tyre reviews and realising alot of the touring tyres are road orientated and that tyre reviews on treaders vary as much as boatermikes. I decided on the tyres I really really wanted only to find they were no longer available. I rang round a few places and managed to get them....a set of Schwalbe Marathon XR tyres. These are supposed to be very good tyres and I can justify the price ph34r.gif by the claimed mileage that round the world tourers were getting. Even tyres are confuzzling....a mixture of metric and imperial measurements, wired, folding, puncture protection systems...and on and on.

I investigated chain suck plates...and now know what that "weird sump guard" that has been there for the past 20 years is. laugh.gif Guess I just need to adjust it correctly now.

Wac, at the grand old age of 67 became very interested in the Tour De Treader and has invited himsen along this year blink.gif ! Not one to hang around, he has been out and bought a brand spanking new Dawes Kara-Kum and is in training.

On his first test run after lugging the bike back for him he crashed into the back of my (parked) car and ripped the wiper arm off. laugh.gif

Ohh didnt hear about that until you mentioned it. Hopefully they will have El-stopped by then. Plus if its road/rail and air oi should be ok.

Made the mith-take of asking me amigo Walt for some Spanish lessons. Me Frank-says is arsey beans but me Spanish is El-nonexisto.

Anyways his el-reply:

Espanish people who can espeak inglis will underestand you better if you espeak inglis with a espanish accent.

Any words in English beginning with S and followed by a consonant needs to be preceded by an E
Here a re some examples
Spain = Espain
spade = espade
star = estar
speak = espeak

Also words begining with W should sound like they begin with G or GU
Examples are:
wood = good (so Goodwood would be Goodgood)
water = guater

b and v should sound exactly the same ie: bv

Some useful phrases:

¿Donde estan los servicios? = where are the toilets?

¿Que hora es? = What is the time?

¿Quanto questa? = How much is it?

Una cerveza por favor = Please may I have a beer

Por favor, que puede tener el fletán = Please may I have the halibut.

¿Dónde puedo aparcar mi moto? = Where can I park my motorbike

Sabes el camino a San Jose? = Do you know the way to San Jose?

¿Sabía usted que Edam se hace hacia atrás en Inglés? = Did you know that Edam is made backwards in English?

Sus pies huelen mal = Your feet smell badly.

¿Cuál es tu punto? = What's you're point?

¿De qué manera? = In what way?

No has leído mi correo electrónico? = Did you not read my email?

Tal vez usted no sabe lo que está hablando = Mayhaps you don't know what you're talking about

¿No ciclo en el día de hoy Dan? = Did you not cycle in today Dan?

Also an identical treader to mine listed on ebay which had a BIN price of £50! Was tempted as it has a 22" frame rather than my ridiculous 18" frame but didn't go ferret as mine has sentimental value I guess. #130671180711

Worked out in them weird foreign measurements and then convertifried. Not as far as I had guesstimated. badgrock.gif

It was initially going to be 2 and a bit weeks but now with the wac factor its tree and a bit so El-easy El_peasy smile.gif

Quite sure there will be a number of diversions and changes along the way though.

Boike is now ed zackery how I want it. Front "shelf" (rather than pannier rack) added as I were a lille concerned about mine and luggage weight all through the back axle. Also aids in wheelie reduction ooop hills and increases baguette room for back pan-ears. Just surveyed boike today after a training treader and were very pleased at how much it has evolved since the last tour.

Cheapo bike to bike communication PMR radios, which work well on VOX with earpiece once they are set up correctly. So when wac goes in shop for baguettes oi can order extra pies from ootside watchin the boikes.

A fart rate monitor for wac so once he hits the rev limiter we stop for an el-beer.

Just Dazzo's de-rail-ear and new chain and new chainset to fit but waiting till nearer kick off for that.
