free speech is a right in your country, the internet is not your country whereever that may be, and its the rules of the site you are posting on that you must adhere too
if you want to tell jokes and take the piss thats fine, but as soon as it gets 'personal' or 'abusive' to an individual or a group that is out of line.
note: I am not point fingers at any individuals, merely trying to give some context to peoples complaints about the rights to 'free speech'
This site is a forum dedicated to promoting and supporting the Yamaha TDM and biking in general, the other areas, such as the Hyde park, are provided as an extra to that.
Please remember this sites primary focus.
If you wish to post something outside of this, that the owner wouldnt like, then please use a site that is appropriate.

there's those that agree with the idea but not the presentation
there's those that dont agree
and then there's staff
and to each category you can add 2 more categories : those that reply and those that dont.
when staff decides "its enuff" IT IS ENUFF.
as for free speech : on a forum that's just a checkbox.
give'em a finger and they'll take your arm.
take the hint when people try diffuse or divert the topic, which usually includes snappy remarks to give you a chance to back off without loosing face.
you wanna debate : use civil language and go to a forum that handles the subject.
this topic will stay open for a few replies more or until i see fit to close it.
after i close it all spinoffs WILL BE REMOVED ASAP, take it up with me in private message or i will tick that freespeech checkbox.

It's just that I don't understand why why you say this....this topic will stay open for a few replies more or until i see fit to close it.
There's no bad feeling here, no abuse or threats, nothing appears to have been moderated either.....so why lock it?
I'm not saying this to question your authority in any way, because I know how difficult it can be doing this gig.....I'm just trying to understand the criteria you apply here so I don't inadvertently transgress any rules you may have. And on this occasion I'm a bit confused.

Ditto.
I'd have thought a more pragmatic approach would have been to delete any "offensive" posts and leave the light hearted aspect of the thread to run its course...........or maybe I'm just, err...... "different"?

Political incorrectness gives licence to extremists - I'd see that as worse
No pigeonholing or judgmentalism going on there then.
You got me nailed though. But I'm not offended. Us whinging, WASP's (WASC in my case) mail readers are just fair game these days
