QUOTE(Dannyboy @ Tue 19th Feb 2008, 02:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just had a run through of the route on Google Earth. My house to Langenei is 584 miles and should take 10 hours.
My butt cheeks are hurting just at the thought. Sure looks an interesting ride with loads to see. I could do with an address for the hut so as to check out the local roads in the area. Looks like they had some nasty flooding by the river last summer and some of the local residents have posted pictures on Google Earth.

Check list completed so far.
............................
New front pads.
Front and rear Road pilot 2s.
Tom Tom Europe vii. (Bargain)
Bag lux fitted.
New KnN filter.
Time off work booked.
Passport arrived safe and well.

To do.
..........

Save some dosh for the trip.
Sort out my lectrics as they are still Straight to battery.
Think about booking the crossing.
Tell the wife. (Dont think the old "just popping out to get a loaf" is going to work this time) dry.gif

Crikey you are well organised and there's still 3 month to go! We need to find out if bikemadcolin is still comming coz then we can organise the tickets, i'll send him an email to find out and will let you all know unsure.gif
Now on 9er number 2 .....

My MoT runs out 5 May so I'd better get it done early to make sure I've got time to fix anything if it fails (should be fine though). ANyone know how far in advance you can do it and not loose the remaining time? Is it a month?

Danny, if you've just invested in a Tomtom take a read of this thread on CMC for someusefull bits of additional sofware you might like.

1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now :(
2009 900 abs, 42k miles, Yamaha heated grips, double bubble screen, R&G crash bungs, scottoiler, Autocom, 1500 lumen LED spotlights.

Cheers for letting us know BMC, hope you can make it.

What do all the rest of you want to do regarding ticket booking? As you may have read before, I'm only booking one way as I'm extending my trip for another week or so and may come back via another route. Idea's welcome unsure.gif

I dont think we need to rush as I dont think we will get a discount for booking only 3 bikes for the crossing. The only problem I can see is that we are going over a bank holiday weekend. We could do with looking at a meet up time and location this side of the channel as we can then decide what time crossing we would require. Got to take into consideration the 1 hour time difference between UK/Germany. Europe + 1 hour to UK. I am happy to burn through to the destination point but it may be nice to see the countries we travel through and perhaps take some pickies to post up when we get back.
Personally Ive been working me middle aged tits off for the last couple of months and am looking forward to just chillin on me bike and only worrying about whats around the next bend.

I'm happy to travel the day before although I do appreciate that not everyone can get the day off and poor Tony will be playing catch-up anyhow coz he can't finish work early. However, I do think we should get the earliest crossing we can because it takes the pressure off reaching the destination and it will allow us a slightly more leisurely trip the other side. Probably a good place to meet up is clackets lane services on the M25 as I think everyone going will be using that route. What does everyone else think and what time chunnel do you think we should catch?

Works for me. Danny's got the longest trip in the morning though I guess it what suits him.

I can put you up for the night in Aldershot if that's any use to you. About 100 miles of A3/M25/M20 to Dover from here. I'm working Thursday but up for an earlyish start on Friday. We can then take it easy the other side of the channel while Tony plays catchup.
