Enter the EL34B pentode or my personal favourite if you can ever get them, the KT77 kinkless beam tetrode.
Plugged into one of these and carefully tuned with meters and a small pot adjuster with due reverence and burnt thumbs
Audio nirvana takes time, expense and pain to perfect. Usually it takes four small bottles linked to four big bottles of fire to make it all work.
Definitely not 'A*' energy rated. Only a matter of time before the tree hugging Eurocrats ban them.
I use the transistor things in the workshop for music with no quality, but for an evening of real listening, Kinkless tetrodes rule.
