Excellent news. Is there going to be a time lapse video of the rebuild?

So got to the location where the bike is (1.5 hours away) and got the gear box back together and then got ready to put the cases together and realized I was missing a part... very minor, but something I didnt want to leave out. It was a half circlip that holds the bearing of the driveshaft in place. Must have fallen out. So now I am off to order that part.

This is where I left it at:

Also can you guys look at this picture and let me know if that is all the gaskets I need to reassemble the engine:

So looks like I need a head gasket... and cylinder gasket... Anyone have suggestions on where to get them for cheap?

Does this seem like a good deal/quality?

So this is the part I need... and its not on any of the schematics for sale.

CirclipBearing_zps528456f4.png

Its a 2 piece circlip that goes around the smaller bearing of the driveshaft. Must have fallen out when I was working. I have one half of it, but I am missing the other. Any idea where I can get this part?

Sure it's not just a half-ring?

From Haynes 2.54 Engine, clutch and transmission

"Install the bearing half-ring retainer for the

right-hand end of the output shaft into its slot

in the upper crankcase half (see illustration).

I've never split a TDM engine so I may be wrong. There must be others that do know.

Wow, well I guess its possible. I really cant see them referring to it on the installation portion of the instructions. I guess because it was called a "circlip" I assumed it was all the way around... there is space for it all the way around on both the bearing and the case... why wouldn't it go all the way around?

Has anyone split a case and can confirm that there is or is not a top part to it?

There is not a bottom part to it. :) Just be sure to install it in the upper casing.

So, back from vacation and ready to jump into it again. All thats stopping me now is a top end gasket set. What is your guys thoughts of OEM vs. ebay aftermarkets?

If I go OEM does anyone know off the top of their heads what gaskets I need?
