I hope these pictures are the correct way round!

Today, before I froze over, I started to work out the fairing, tank and seat. Ive tried to sort the headlights out, but I think it will be best to get new ones. Give it more of a modern look.

Sorry purists!

Just fitted the carburettors with the new jubilee clips (skinny ones) they fit like a glove. Have already checked the inlet runners and manifold O rings, being ok I went ahead. I have decided to have a go and wire up the electric fuel pump, with connectors and not soldering them in. Just in case I have to adjust the floats too much, then Ill just pop the old vacuum pump in until I can replace it with a newer one. Wishing me luck.

Right, its wired in. Ive put my finger over the pump whilst it runs, doesnt seem to stop working. I think I may of bought a constantly working fuel pump and not a fuel pump that keeps the fuel pressure to a certain psi. It was only a tenner, so arent too bothered. But, do I add a fuel regulator or just get the actual fuel pump posted in knowledge base? Haha
Or am I just thinking too much and should actually wait until it comes to start the bike up to find out?

I tried one of them, they don't shut off. Another lad I know had one on his and it pissed fuel out of his overflows.
I've now got an fzr1000 copy from ebay, seems to be working ok so far. It's the ticking type like the oem one on my old vmax so I think it works the same, clicks like hell filling the carbs then slows right down. https://rover.ebay.c...tm/252615126930

Ive got my oil and filter now, so I will be able to test it with fuel. See if it runs. If it pisses out, Ill be ordering a better one. Ive had people say it should be fine and people saying get the R1 pump.

Well, I got her running. Fuel pump doesnt flood the carbs, well theres none coming out of the drain anyway. Although, it is revving quite high and sounds a bit sluggish. It takes a while for the revs to come down after a blip on the throttle. Sounds like I need to adjust float heights anyway and balance. Lovely blue flame coming out the zorsts when it backfires though! Haha Ill have a go at it tomorrow! Any other suggestions? I do have a video, but cant upload to here.

I have to be honest, Im looking at another 50 times pulling these carbs apart to get them right! Haha. Ill crack it in the end, Ill get there! But, can someone remind me, if its revving its tits off, slowly going back to idle after a blip, is that too lean? I need to adjust the float heights down? Or is it the air mixture screw? Can someone share the Mikuni carb setting up guide for me? Haha

Cheers guys!

Could be an air leak somewhere, check the inlets and the exhaust. Mine ran awful until I found the headers weren't completely tight.

Ive been looking for something to help me seal the intake rubbers, Id use rubber grease but that just makes it easier to pull the carbs off when theyre tight! Haha
It is an air leak, I checked with carb cleaner, had a bit of a brainstorm and had to try it! Haha.
I think I bought non gen intake rubbers and theyre a bit dodgy. No matter how tight they are. Anyone got a site I can get a decent pair, tried and tested etc!

You could wrap the originals in heatshrink and try them again if it's a matter of fitment !!
