The easy way: Dip it in salty water and let the rest rust away.....

Had a great day with Mr Henty. It was a pleasure to meet him for the first time. He came to my place and helped (By that I mean I watched and held things and tried to learn!) sort me bike out. Fitting many, many titanium bolts, some lovely silicone hoses, a wee Magneti Marelli lithium battery, some  R&G fork protectors and some smart SW-Motech frame sliders (I'm sure there was loads more...).

Not all went to plan though. The Renthal 789 streetfighter bars were a problem. All the lines were too short, so a bit of research and enquires will be needed to get them on, but they will get put on!

But the biggest shock was what was already on/in the bike!!! Arnold's Motorcycles had "looked" after this bike before I found this wonderful site. This is what we found...

Wrong coolant had been put in.

Radiator hoses had barely been tightened let alone fitted properly.

Oxford heated grips fitted in such a bodge. They had what Lee referred to as an "Abortion", so that obviously isn't good!

Not a long list but considering that was done by an official Yamaha dealer, I'm shocked and f-ing annoyed.

But the very best thing about the day was A) Meeting Lee, A bloody genius and a very friendly chap to spend a cold day chatting with. And B) Realising that this site is more than a website to gain info. There really are peeps out there that are only to willing to give you their time and effort and expertise. Lee has saved me a whole lot of time, hassle and I'm sure money!

So to you all out there that give advice and help can I say I'm very very grateful and appreciate all the effort that comes with it. But for today I'd especially like to thank Lee for helping me...

Thanks Lee :D

P.S. I know there should be photos but it was getting dark and bloody cold so hopefully tomorrow chaps!

You are welcome, a very enjoyable day spent fitting the best shiny Titanium screws Probolt has to offer. :cloud9:

The Abba stand adapter has been made tapered which is why it doesn't fit properly so I'll correct it for you and post back asap. That fancy battery, is light as a feather and has a self test button which is useful.

Those frame sliders are the dogs   very well made but - one point for using cross head screws for the decals but easy to make them stainless.

. I was very surprised to find all the hose clips very loose. The new hoses are really nice, so I've ordered a set with stainless clips. I still managed to slip a few stainless screws in some out of the way places.  :)

Thanks to your Mum for kindly providing coffee at regular intervals,

So now you know why we worship at the House of Henty PV! And you, like others before you have learnt that Yamaha dealers know nothing about TDMs, stay away! You'll learn more at a fettle day. Sorry to hear that your bike's ok Lee!

BSM put new boots on me bike. Michelin Pilot 3's. Thank you BSM & Michelin.

Reckon I was still on the original tyres. Noticed a distinct lack of confidence in them this year, they feel hard and unreliable, not like battleaxes at all. Either that or I'm mindful of my own new metallic, invisible bling in the form of my knee. I'm confident on the bike though, so heading out to scrub the rubber on the twisty setting on the new satnav we fitted during the week. No more cursing waterproof covers I can't see through!

He met with my full approval, not a rusty bolt in sight, I arrived and saw a pile of Probolt bags, so I knew instantly the day would improve. he has a very nice TDM, one of the best I have seen, totally black with nice gloss powder coat on the grab rail and mirror casings.

An Irish buddy of mine suggested I get knee sliders built in but the surgeon declined. Spoil sport. I'm getting a matching one in the right leg after this year's G2G. I'm dying to see if I set off airport alarms but I never fly anywhere any more.
