Thanks for that. MOT is due in Feb. Planning to pull tge swingarm out before then.
What usually fails in the linkage ? Usual items like bushings and worn needle bearings ?
The shock is surprisingly good still....may have been changed already.

Its benefitted from regular mauntenence

Welcome aboard.

Do a search on shock linkage, should find what you need to know.

Be checking mine out when I get time although with 7000 on the clock I suspect it'll be ok.

Yep that's it but you'll see from the thread that one of the linkages sometimes needs an awful lot of TLC iffin your not lucky, hopefully it's all been maintained.

What are the symptoms....clunking when loading the suspension for example ?

Anyhow i almost got stranded today with a flat battery, looks like the regulator died, somehow. I'm getting generator output and for a while the battery would be getting about 14V then it dropped, came back, dropped again, then stopped charging altogether.

Had a good 60 mile ride in sunshine prior to that so it's not all bad !

No symptoms as such,  the shock/swingarm linkage bushing is prone to siezing if not lubed at appropriate intervals and can be a bugger to get out as it can only be drawn from the one side, most have been lucky and it's slipped out fine, but mine and a couple of others needed some delicate work from the super Henty, one has been known to snap off at the swingarm while in use

Best to be safe i always think.

The first decent dry day of this year was in February, so i rode my FJ to the Rest And Be Thankful.   Hopefully by March it's dry again. MOT due in Feb anyway so will be riding it by then. If it doesn't freeze this weekend i wanna get out for a bit too.

Happy New Year anyway !  :)

Hi all,

I have just noticed this section so thank you to all those who have already welcomed me and hope you all had a good Christmas and new year.

I'm Kurt as you may of guessed and I live in the Village of Ascot, its not as posh as you may think, and being from Cumbria originally I think I stick out a bit :P.

I'm not a TDM owner as of yet but I have settled on getting one, I was looking at all sorts and my work colleges have been trying to steer me away from the TDM. To be honest I feel inlove with a 900 when I was at a motorcycle shop in the Netherlands.

I'm a daily rider and commute to the sunny town of Slough on my current bike the XJ600S, I'm also a member of Thames Vale Advanced Motorcyclists that meet every 3rd Sunday in Wokingham so if anyone is about come on down!

Hi, my name is Neil. I live in Sydney and I bought my black 2011 TDM900 two days ago :yahoo: .  Previous bike was a KLE500 which I had for eight years.
I looked at other bikes but the TDM was the one that I kept coming back to. Love the comfort and the engine.  No mods yet but I have ordered a taller screen and I want to add a top box and maybe some pipes to let out the burble hidden by the stock pipes.
