I might try a bit of silicone gasket stuff. If it works l, brilliant! Haha I think it might be due to the fact I have slim jubilee clips on them. The old clamps were buggered and theres a notch on the rubbers wheee you position the clamps. Might be forcing the rubbers open when I tighten them on the notches? Haha

I have to be honest, Im looking at another 50 times pulling these carbs apart to get them right! Haha. Ill crack it in the end, Ill get there! But, can someone remind me, if its revving its tits off, slowly going back to idle after a blip, is that too lean? I need to adjust the float heights down? Or is it the air mixture screw? Can someone share the Mikuni carb setting up guide for me? Haha

Cheers guys!

I use the FP guide to tuning CV carbs.

Should answer most of yer questions regarding setting up yer carberoonys. :)

Trim the notches off the intake rubbers.

Right, Ive used that. I had it bookmarked! Haha it runs great now, there was a bit paper in the right hand float needle, so only letting tiny bits of fuel in it. I adjusted and cleaned them again, trimmed off the notches and no air leaks now! Runs great I say! Although, the exhaust down pipes are very hot! Nearly red to be honest! I havent balanced the carbs or messed with the mixture screws yet, but it idled lovely at 1,400 rpm.

I havent got anything to balance the carbs, so for the time being until I do have something, Im leaving it as it is. I know its running a tad too lean, I just think its best to get everything else sorted like the fairings, lights and wiring stuff, then I can see if I can borrow or make a set of synchronisers.

1400rpm tickover will prolly be why yer downpipes are really hot.

this worked successfully - need to leave overnight to let  power steering fluid settle before use and very cheap to make

Santa bought me a carbtune for Xmas. Its a really nice package of kit and should last a lifetime.  I bought one for 4 cylinders - which can also  be used on triples and twins. Oddly I thought,  Santa found it cheaper to buy directly from Morgan Carbtune rather than from , eg , eBay

Cheers

+1 on the Carbtune route.

I’ve had a 4 cyl set for years - great bit of kit - bought when I had the FJ1200 but only used it once on that bike. I’ve only had twins and singles since then. I haven’t figured out how to use it on a single yet ;)

Just got to balance the carburettors, finish off the fairings and tank, want to reposition the silencers and renew pads and brake lines. The calipers arent leaking, so wont bother rebuilding them. Headlights are on, bracket made for speedos, for the time being! I want to make a new surround for them, though. All is good!!

Ive just bought some ebc brake lines, online using code MC368998 to give me a 30% discount. Free postage!
Bought some pads, more terminal connections and will get all that sorted as soon as I get the time! Cracking on now!
Fairing is still being put together, glue needs to set! Will sand them down and mock them up again and provide a few pictures soon!

Carbs are sorted! I dont think fibreglass will set on the rear fairings, but I do have plastic filler/glue which is brilliant! So will use that if fibreglass doesnt set.
Cut up some new fuel pipes. Sanded down the tank, ready for filling and paint.
Ive been waiting close to 3 weeks for my brake pipes, cant wait much longer! Haha

I would be inclined to put either a nice tight new connector (weatherproof) or solder those Tom, they are a source of trouble them are.

I didnt want to spend too much on it, so nicking wires from a wiring loom that was being thrown and the connectors have cleaned up quite well.
