Fitted my new 30mm straight up bar risers.  Can't see over my satnav but nothing new there!    Stuck my Ace Cafe stickers on my panniers and put it away again.

Suspect coil replaced.  No sign of any arcing and no sparks but the HT lead seemed distinctly loose where it left the body of the coil.  Plugs which were fitted last year checked, gaps measured and all good.  HT leads now all snugly wrapped in SA tape.

There was no hint of the misfire when I started it up today so I stuck with the original theory that Lee pointed out and binned the right side coil.  It was definitely misfiring when we pulled the plug on the left side coil causing it die altogether.

I've discovered another problem (although I thought the misfire was one and the same).  There is a broken spring on the left (kerb) side of the cold start mechanism and although the slider isn't seized, the cold start isn't working.  Anyone any idea where I can get another spring from?  If anyone has a spare one knocking about or knows the size of the original I would be eternally grateful.

I fixed the cold start issue with your bike back in 2009.  The copperslip certainly worked!

if you can get a measurement I'll have a look in the master engineers boxes of zebedee's. I'm sure we have something that can be pressed into service.

Lee stole the bolts off my rad on Sunday and replaced them with SS ones too. I reckon he knows something we don't cos his pockets must be full of rusty Yammy bolts!

I didn't steal them :unsure2:   I gave them to you together with one or two other offending bolts, to consign to the scrap bin.

Quite why stainless radiator covers don't come with shiny stainless screws is beyond me. It seems obvious that they should come as a kit.

Did you read the response BSM got from Michelin about the PR4GT?

Checked out a driveline clicking and have decided that the chain etc need replacing. The existing item is the original with 31,000 miles to its credit. That's Scottoiler for you! It seemed OK when I did the service earlier during its winter rest, but actually using the bike afterwards seems to have brought the wear to light - or rather sound.

After reading the comments on here I've ordered a kit with a rubber cushion on the front sprocket, a JT rear and DID X-ring VX chain. I had not realised until checking that the chain is a 525 - all bikes I've had before had 530 size.

Further checking showed the need for a socket I ain't got - a 36mm deep item - and to remind me not to jump on and go with the sprocket cover off I used a trick developed to stop me starting the engine when it's empty of oil. Stick an annotated McDonalds coffee stirrer in the ignition key slot. I keep a stock of these sticks for mixing and spreading glue, applying grease etc..

Anyway, socket about to be ordered. C&S set due next week.

Not you Cliff, another guy on facebook is adamant that it's no good, seems ok to me, and Michelin reckon it's ok ( thanks for finding out BSM) and our Scandinavian contingent are ok with it, so just personal preference I s'pose. I don't get on with Pirellis on my cars, but they seem to sell plenty of them!

That look was one of "please god don't let this rusty exhaust stud shear off"

In fact it came out of the head complete with nut  which was convenient.

When my Scorpion exhausts arrived they had 2 different types of db killers in them. They were good but one of them sounded quite different to the other.....i tracked down another of the type which sounded best to me and fitted it today.

Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.
