Cracking rideout today 220 miles on wet and dry roads ( Mostly wet ) visibility down to 100 metres on the high ground ( Moffat hills ) Talla water looked awsome coming through the clouds, A very moody scene indeed great to meet some CARPE members in the flesh and see the bikes in the flesh ( Tones bike has a great colour scheme ) Great company, great rideout, Shame the butterfly bikers couldn't make it, they missed a cracking day

Not an excuse - was promised the door was going to be fixed Thursday/Friday - but ended up Saturday pm !
Am 180 miles away from Haggs Bank - so you would have all eaten by the time I got there
Electric roller door with all connecters fecked so couldn't even use the manual crank.
Long story, but involved closing it on an ally pannier ......BMW pannier won ! Am now wiser but £200 poorer
Maybe I'll take a solo trip up to the borders - probably camp at the old G2G site at Bellingham

What can I say. Terrific weekend with great company and first class facilities. The ride out in all possible weathers made the beer talk in the comfy sitting room very pleasant indeed.
Big thanks to Danny n Helen the owners for the good food and great crack.
For what it's worth I suggest a return to Haggs bank next year. You really can't fault it.
By the way did anyone notice how well behaved Dablik was without a certain Ramrod winding him up .

A huge thanks to Dave for putting this together again. It was a well appointed location with everything you could ask for.
Thanks also to Jono for the Saturday ride-out, which was again, an amazing experience. Very peaceful, moody and atmospheric across some of the views and roads.
And great to just generally catch up with good friends, a few beers, great food and company.
See you all next year.
Cheers lads.

Glad you all had a good time and hope for a repeat next year?
Genuinely gutted I couldn't make it - working on a weekend for a Local Authority worker seems a bit far fetched but just happens to be true.
Cheers

Okay Dom's or Haggs bank, Dom's or Haggs bank
Haggs bank is the winner, now bare in mind it's mostly you lot of ugly fooks i'm thinking of now, i did'nt mind Doms at all, i mean he was a bit eccentric especially on the food and beer front, 1 shower on a pallet, did'nt bother me cos i'm a dirty bassad anyway and can always shower after i get home smelling lovley and ripe, Dom's is okay, however if you want to step up a bit to 5 star then it's Haggs Bank all the way, the place is kept absolutley spotless and i mean that, i would of happily gobbled Big Dave me breakfast (wot was i thinking) off the wash house floor, and it's so nice to clean your teeth and not listen to the likes of Danny pushing his previous dinner out or Sam having a piddle which is splashing on ya dentures £20 a night for a bunk, would of been cheaper if we had filled it, but never mind we got to fill Big Dave instead after painting lipstick around his bum, no extra charge incurred
and i can assure you the snoring was no way as bad with that lot on comfy mattresses as opposed to Dom's campsite, go figure eh.
The roads, well i love mid Wales especially when your out before all the traffic and the tarmac is brilliant but i have to say what a ride out, yes even in the wet, it was bloody fantastic, 1st ride out for me since Sept and the cobwebs are truly blown away, i kind of had an idea what to expect as i've done plenty with Jono, their always good, damn good, lots of slippery stuff on this one with tons of cowshit in the road, everyone's a drifting pro by now, ya missed out folks, it was tremendous.
The Hosts at Haggs are lovely, not in ya face but sociable and very helpful, even free coffee and tea available, saved me around £40
For those who could'nt make it on a whim, yes you know who you are, i was so looking forward to seeing you all and sharing some love, so get ya arses in gear for next year or it may be the last.
Cheers BD for doing what you did
lovley to see everybody as usual plus a guest appearance from Paul (isle of man) Danny Lyons thanks for an absolute hoot, you were defo on form Satdi night matey, we all fell about laughing, course as normal Big D and Matlock were pissed as newts, makes em sleep ya know.
Loved it chaps, thoroughly enjoyed myself apart from the shit brakes..
I would have opted for man flu as an excuse it seems to be the most popular
Oi fat arse, leave me other boyfriend alone, he was on his death bed and he would of owned up to being a pussy iffen the rain put him off, anyway ya auld scottish git, thanks for briliiant ride out, it was mega, we've done a few now and it's always good, love and kisses xxx
By the way did anyone notice how well behaved Dablik was without a certain Ramrod winding him up.
Nowrt to do with Studley Sam, me sidekick Aircooled was missing but seeing as Danny was on form, well how can one compete, good to see you mate.

Back safe & sound after another excellent G2G, massive thanks to Dave for organising it again. I have to say I was awestruck by the roads up there, I'd forgotten just how good they were. Big thanks to Jono for leading the Saturday rideout, including an offroad section for one lucky Carpe member . That road leading to the cafe at St Mary's Lock was superb, but just the best of 220 miles of cracking roads we rode on Saturday. And that view of Talla Reservoir (?) from the misty mountain top was unforgettable.
Great company as usual, but such a pity the turnout was so low. If we have a G2G there again next year make sure you go. I know it's a long way to go for you Southerners, but believe me it's worth it. The weather we had on Saturday was not great, but we still had an epic ride and if you're going to ride that far north, you have to expect some moisture - nothing decent riding kit can't manage.
Finally, hat's off to Danny and Helen at Haggs Bank Bunkhouse. What a friendly, helpful couple they were. And their bunkhouse must be the best in the country - spotlessly clean, comfortable bunks in decent rooms, great washing facilities and showers (and plenty of them), good hearty food, and a comfortable lounge and conservatory to relax in. To cap it all off, they charge a reasonable amount for the bed and meals.
Roll on next year's G2G.
