battery good and fully charged,  fresh fuel, side stand is in the up position, have you looked at the error codes? HT leads arcing out to the frame?

spyball alarm/immob, bluespot brake calipers and Stainless hoses, Fournales air adjustable shock with Remote Resevoir, forks raised 10mm thru yokes, racetech linear fork springs in 15 wt oil, Kappa wingrack/luggage, heated grips, Kedo handguards, dual heat controller to power heated jacket liner and or pants!!, Stebel 136DB horn, K&N air filter, colour matched Baglux tank cover (magnetic tank bag modified to fit cover), osram +50% headloight bulbs, headlight protector,"NitramSpecial" parking loight, tail light indicators all running on LED's & incorporate "Lite Buddies", MK7 Scottoiler fitted, taller screen, 2-2 stainless steel CCC's, Devil stainless down pipes. MKI Renntec engine crash bars & sump guard.
engine changed july 2007 on a dyno run it made 79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

Very few chances it's caused by the plugs but who knows ?

Clean and check plugs gap beforehand, plugs on an injected engine last longer than on a carbed engine.

Tell more about your bike and its maintenance history.

I had a similar issue, it was an injection failure due to bad fuel which clogged the injectors.

Side-stand down gives the same result as the engine kill switch off.

Weak HT leads ?

yes quite likely they are  weak and leaking.

Mine was in with the same issue last month, the connections under the tank had corroded from exposure (not totally protected from elements and road crap under there) so it was turning over but never priming.

Iirc there's a male-female connector block under the tank on the left (clutch) side. Could not tell you specifically what it connects, just that the mechanic had to clean the spades in it and change a couple outright to get it going again.

Connector maintenance is worth doing, annually. Just open and close all connectors and you make a good difference,. Apply a contact lube with corrosion inhibitors and you'll have very few electrical problems. The connectors under the tank are all worth splitting open, and all relay plugs too.

Yes, check for wires & connectors corrosion !

I always forget to mention that problem but it's very common in countries with a damp weather.
