Hi everyone. New here from the Midlands area. Got a mk1 TDM, standard except an old 2-1 lazer pipe. Not that I bought it for top end but I did wanted to see what she could do. It pulled great up to redline in 4th which was about 115, I hooked it in to 5th and there just wasn't much go left. There were plenty of revs left though.

I checked the gearing and it 16 44 which ive read up as standard. Is this jusy the way they are? Would the fuel pump mod help?

So you have a 22 year old bike, and it won't pull much from 115mph in top ??  How much pull are you expecting?.

Your bike would benefit from a good tuning throughout.

Then you could visit this site

Don't forget to make allowances for your size/weight/state of tune/over optimistic speedo too.

Don't think I've ever maxxed mine out. A ton feels more like 150 on a TDM anyways.  :)

I was getting some clutch slip on my mk1 which made the bike feel sluggish at high speeds.  Adjusted the clutch cable and it was fine.  Problem was I couldn't hear the engine revs at high speed so it just felt like a lack of power, wasn't until I noticed the rev counter that I twigged on what was happening.

As TNG says, a good tuning might help.

I had mine out for the first run this year on Sunday; it runs 16/44 gearing.

Wearing a bulky textile jacket but crouched down a bit behind the screen 126mph was registered on the

satelite speedo before  running out of road on a slight uphill incline. The std instrument reads 6 > 10 % over.

Hello Wicky; you been MIA for a bit ?

Your model speedo is much more accurate I believe;

your 130 on the clock will not be far off.

Cheers, Bill.

Hi Roop!

The tube 2 in 1 may influence the mixing ratio (air / fuel). It would not be appropriate to review the regulation of the mixture screw?
As the Studley said the clutch adjustment can also have an influence. The engine spins rises, but does not transmit to the pinion shaft, chain, rear wheel.
Try another MK1 will give you a better idea.

Note: Red line in 4th gear, or any gear?? :punishment:  :sorry:

Cheers!

If the fuelling hasn't been set up properly for the pipe (especially a 2:1) you could end up suffering engine damage if running weak
