Been there mate. Fact is any sort of drop damages something on such a tall bike. New plastic is damned expensive, best bet is to keep an eye out on Ebay for a panel to come cheap. I think I paid about £30 for mine. Not sure about sanding out the scuffs though, never tried it.

I was in my Yamaha dealer this morning and side panels for my silver 06 model were £169, didn't ask what price they were charging for the decals though.

Your panel sounds like it's a straightforward repair. Mine had a 6 inch split in it. I plastic stitch welded it on the front (using an electric soldering iron), bought a small fibre glassing kit on Ebay and patched the inside of it, then used filler on the outside before rubbing it down again. Long winded and patience needed, but it now looks good enough before I get it painted later in the year. Panels on Ebay go for anything between £30 and £100 but they come up fairly regularly.

There a load of '05 parts ( someone has broken one) just been listed on fleabay over the last day or so.

This is a link to the left fairing ( which to be honest doesnt look in great nick )

http://www.ebay.co.u...=p2056016.l4276

And if you click on the sellers shop link http://stores.ebay.c...d=p4634.c0.m322

There is a fair few parts up. All in French though so you'd need to translate.

May help, May not.

Mange Tout, Mange Tout. Bonjour.

Mines been down the road and no scuff. The bike fell over onto gravel in the wind once and it scuffed up really badly! Ding'd the exhaust too.

It's fiddly, need to unclip it from the inside, have a look and you'll see what i mean, a bit of swearing gets it done sharpish.
