I have an intermittent fault with the instrument cluster on my 2003 TDM900. Instrument panel only works occasionally so most of the time I have no speedo, rev counter, fuel guage etc. Now and again it does light up and function but not often, so I have to use a satnav for info. I have checked fuses, wiring connections etc. Any help gratefully received!

The connection at the rear of the instrument cluster ? Guessing you've tried that ? If not, then what about each wire in that connector where they're crimped in the rear of the terminals, do any of them show any sign of corrosion ?

Have you checked for a faulty earth and not just power? Are any on the wires to/from the panel rubbing on bodywork? Loose connection on ECU?

Intermittent faults are a real pita.

I've not done this on a TDM, but my old vfr suffered from various instrument cluster issues - each time it was due to corroded tracks on the back of the PCB in the cluster. If you can take the IC apart to examine the PCB, look for any corrosion and bridge the bad section(s) on any of the tracks. A magnifying glass really helps in finding them.

Thanks for the response guys. Sounds like the balance of opinion is that it is a connection, or corrosion or something preventing the power from getting to the display. I will keep looking!
