I'd really like some hard panniers for my TDM, but at the moment I really can't spend any money on 'non-essentials'.

I mentioned in another post that I had a few useful bits and pieces lying around in the garage and the idea to make some racks for  my soft panniers. Make 'em more secure, save the paintwork, etc. Here are those useful parts assembled ready for todays project...

  • A Yamaha TDM900 :good:
  • Some bits of anonymous tubing
  • Touratech pannier racks! :hide: off a BMW 1100GS  :hide:  :hide:  :hide:
  • A pair of Zega panniers :hide: :hide:

A session with the angle grinder turned a pair of these...

into two of these...

Some measuring, cutting, mig welding later, and I now have these...

to do this...

or even this...

I'm quite pleased with my afternoon/evening in the garage. 'Repurposed' racks and panniers for nowt. Just need to paint 'em!

That looks a lot sturdier than my effort - mind you those cases are a sight heavier.  :good:
