Following on from Ali's excellent organised tour in April this year I would like to start this for the same run next year.

We all agreed that apart from Ali's breakdown and Dazzer's vision loss it was a brilliant G2G. The Bed & Breakfast was Superb and the hosts were bikers.

Comments and Suggestions please

I'm in good.gif , Its was a pain not being able to see for 24 hours (80mph with my eyes shut was great fun ohmy.gif ).

Great accomodation and roads. Only thing we could possibly consider would be getting the same ferry (Caen ?) as Pete7 (would be less of a race back).

good.gif Yup from me, had a great weekend last time. I agree with taking the Caen Ferry too, less distance and there's a great restaurant to have dinner in if we get there in time ..or take the over-night ferry back?
We're all going to die, so let's be nice.

Great to see someone else has taken up the mantle for 2012. I am not in a position to commit at the moment, but would love to go. Will see how things are closer to the time.
I am back on 2 wheels though, having picked up an old Aprilia Pegaso 650. It was cheap and mechanically sound. It's great fun to ride but not sure I'd want to tour on it. I've already done 1000 miles on it in less than 4 weeks.
The reason I picked LD Lines last time was the price difference versus Brittany Ferries.

Could anyone give me a ball park figure for what the trip might cost? We pensioners have to watch our pennies lads and lasses.

Looks like 100 euros for 6 people for a long weekend, including breakfast and evening meal (140 euro for single)

I'm out of holidays until the end of February now sad.gif so no more trips this year, this will be my next trip.

I had a look on the LD Lines site but can't find any trips for April, seems you have to sail out at 23:00 for Portsmouth to LeHarve.

I'm definitely up for this trip.

Hi Joe,
The accommodation is €110 which includes evening meal Friday and Sunday. It also includes beer or wine but you need to add on say €30-35 for dinner on Saturday night. Then something for lunches - say €80 (4 days). From memory, I used 3 and a half tanks of fuel on the French side and petrol is about the same price as here. You then need to factor in the cost of getting to Portsmouth and bob's your sister's brother!! Don't forget the ferry of course. I went for LD Lines last year purely on cost.
Hope this helps.

Ok. Looking at Wednesday 18th April (overnight sailing ) Portsmouth to Caen returning Sunday 22nd @ 17:30 arriving Portsmouth 22:15. Thats late!

Price for the return trip is £103 for a reclining seat or £137 for a Cabin.

LD Lines are not quoting for 2012 so cannot compare yet. What was the issue with Carpes not wanting to do the Le Havre route. mellow.gif

For the Accomodation I am suggesting Thursday 19th April through Saturday 21st

I will now mail Ken & Leslie to gather some more information.

The guest house can take a maximum of 12 but will confirm that shortly

A reply from Motoranis already

"Hi Martin
We are both fine and have had a busy year maybe our best yet, still got one more big group to come at the end of the month, hope everything is good with you?
Thanks for your kind comments, at the moment we haven't got any enquiries for April next year so we do have availability, we will be able to take up to 10 people no probs and if you don't mind using the triple room we could manage 11 depending on the make up of the group.
The prices for next year will be put on the website before the end of the month, but we will be doing a half-board deal for next year, for a minimum of 3 nights including 3 evening meals the price will be 140 Euros per person standard rate and 130 Euros per person group rate [min 6 people], if you don't want a meal on the 3rd night no probs minus 20 Euros from either rate, these prices are for shared rooms.
If you need any further info drop us a line.
Take care and ride safe
Ken & Lesley
ps the t-shirt is hanging in the garage "

2nd message:

" Hi Martin
No worries, one thing i forgot to mention if you decide to use Brittany ferries let us know before you book as we can give you a code that might get you a bit of discount.
Take care and ride safe
Ken & lesley "

The 1/2 board is worth it. Lesley & Ken do a fantastic spread and I think worth it.

So: We already have 5 confirmed, Maximillionturtlebreath, are you coming, think yes so will leave 4 more

Here's my link for this years tour:

Was just about to book in for this, then realised it is the wife's 50th on the 21st. Bollocks. It would have been the perfect trip after winter. Ave a good one.
MotoGuzzi Norge 1200GT. for Euro touring
Triumph Street Triple. For those hooligan moments......
Beta Alp 200. For falling off In muddy bits.
I suffer from C.D.O. It's like O.C.D. but all the letters are in the correct order, just as they should be.
