I've always wanted a CB500 Four since my teens and now I have one. It's a bit slow compared with a TDM (or a Tracer) but then again, so was just about everything else in 1973.

Trouble is I'm going to have to sell the 900SS (there's always a downside to everything).

I pulled over to help a stranded Honda 400/4 Supersport  rider on Saturday, he had only run out of fuel, we went back to his house to get his spare can and got the bike going. in return he let me take it for a spin down a local lane. I can absolutely see the attraction of this vintage of motorcycles

A '77 CB400/4 was my first bike ! Bought it unseen as I was on my way to a Rolling Stones consert and had no time  :). Part from a horrible cam chain rattle, poor brakes and pillion footrests bolted in swing, I loved it. For many years, a technique for falling asleep was imagining the sensation of entering the local motorway - a slight downhill - in 2., throwing it all inn through the gears with the whine of the four when exceeding 6k rpms... Now I have forgotten the sound and feel, but sleep well anyway

Think the only thing I have left is a photo of the famous 4-1 downpipe section, beautiful ....

It's got a UK frame, but everything else is US import. clocks say 15,000 miles and the motor feels unworn.

That's lovely.

If I had the space my choice would be a candy orange and black Yamaha YDS7. That was like the prettiest girl in school I was too young to have a chance with.

That's the one, mmmmmm. All looks right except the mock clip-ons, urgh, wrong, just wrong.

Oil consumption, pffff. It's made for zooming around town on.

Yeah...I think when you're riding something so nice the other issues like oil consumption don't matter a damn :)

Traded in my T20 Super Six for a YDS7 but didn't think it was a great leap forward compared with the older Suzuki. It's one advantage was on a trip to the TT with my girlfriend (now Wife). We did the Mountain Section on Mad Sunday and when we returned to Douglas she declared that she would never ride on the back with me again. Almost 40 years later she has proved to be consistent in that regard.

Hi Quartermaster!

I was about 16 to 17 and I was just in love with this motorcycle.
At the time Honda reigned: CB400 four, CB500T, CB550, CB750 and then Gold Wing.
Very good memory of that motorcycle. At the time, I could only think and speak:
one day I will have mine. Excellent your post. Congratulations on the purchase.
Thank you for bringing me to good memories.

Congratulations to the new toy

Cheers!
