I'm in. tup.gif

Thought I would post this as per our discussion on this Thread.

This is a charity 24hr run is for the East Anglia Air Ambulance in memory of Stormy.

The rider who raises the most will be awarded with this ......

I have to get a plaque fitted but I'm un-sure of what to engrave on it ?

but I would want this Trophy to pop up at get to gethers now and again

and to be awarded to a deserving Carpe-TDM member, which is to be decided by that last recipiant.

So I will start this again.

I'm in good.gif

Run times must be validated at the shops at both ends, either with a stamp or till reciept.

This is not a race but a test of self endurance and riders must "Ride Safe" at all times.

The quickest rider will be awarded with this .....

Hi Ivan, this looks like an ace idea. The only problem I can see, is that by mounting it on the pillion, it would make it a bit uncomfortable for my daughter to ride with me! rotflmmfao.gif

what format would you prefer?

could do it as a points thing, time/fuel/waypoints etc

will check with the other admins but i'm pretty sure we'll have to say "sorry but this cannot be a race"
we could be in for some serious legal issues if carpe was to endorse or advertise a road race

i'd rather award it to the person who raises the most sponsorship money (this is a charidee thang aint it?)

It would have to be run over 2 or 3 days to get my participation. I don't see the point in doing that many miles just flat out on motorways and duel cabbage ways. Way points on roads that are interesting to ride and time to enjoy the surroundings would float my boat.
The charity aspect is the way to go.

I'm in.
Personally I think it could be run as a get there in a time trial manner, all legal of course, then a leisurly run round Scotland on the way home. This way if some want to take it easy on the way up then we can all meet after they've made it.
I'm sure we can find a happy compromise and accommodate everyone who wants to take part.

Maybe a spred of results,
* Most sponsorship.
* Quickest, legal pace (how do they do it in the road trials... anyone?)
* Furthest travelled.
* Slowest, woodenspoon?
* Best TDM
* Highest odometer

Etc.... you get the idea.
I'm on holiday at the moment typing this on my mobile, but when I get home I'm happy to help plan this.
Lets try and make this a great success!

Thats fine with me but I can only do it over a weekend. Can't get the required pass since I'm doing the "Ring" next year too!

So I'd ride down to Land's End the Fri afternoon stay the night blast up there on the Sat then ride back to Norfolk on the Sunday.

I didn't mean it to be a race but just not hanging around as racing is illegal hidden.gif . The Cannonball remark was just a joke hide.gif

If anybody else want's to do it in one day let me know and we'll start another thread...

There is no reason why we could not have a fast and slow group meeting up at either the start or the finish?

Im sure Jolly was just being his normal enthusiastic self. "naughty giant". I wonder if we were to put the two points into a sat nav system would it give us the legal limit for the entire trip taking into consideration speed limits. The person who gets closest without going under could be the one who gets his name engraved on the cup. The one who raises the most money gets Geordies top box as thats in the picture rotflmmfao.gif

If I can get a pass, I'd love to do it. The two rides I want to do before I die, LE>JoG and to ride the TT course.
I'm in the Jolly Giant camp though, passes are difficult to come by! Time is limited; I might get away with a Friday to Monday.

TBH, if I did it in 11, 12...18 hours, for me the important thing is that I've done it.
It would be nice to do it as a Group, at a reasonable pace, but altogether.

Now who wants to sponsor me at £1 a mile?

That was my personal intension anyway Jolly, up there in a day or under 24hrs.

Others might want to take two or three days.

I think if we can try and all try and get there say .... on the saturday night,

when we start is up to the individuals or groups.

Bang up for this one, either pacey or leisurely, not fussed but count me in anyway.

What would be a rough itinerary for the slower ride?
